Bingo Chaz! When your goal is to become the world's largest automaker no matter what, that's what you get.

I appreciate liking a manual tranny, but some of the world's best supercars use hybrid automatics.

Lee, some of the worlds best supercars do in fact have automatic transmissions...but they don't have torque converters. If it's got a torque converter, it's a shitty automatic and I don't care who makes it. It's shitty.

What exactly do you have against torque converters? I'm just curious.

The very idea of a fluid coupling between the engine and transmission offends my automotive sensibilities. I don't care if a lockup clutch is installed, a torque converter implies a "transmission" that is at least half a giant hydraulic pump, and I simply don't see the need for it in a "sporty" automobile. Maybe in a giant land yacht, but fancy shift programs and ancient religions are no match for three pedals on the floor.

I guess I just don't like it. I guess I like my transmissions to be big stacks of gears, not pumps and ball bearings and hoses and "bands" mazes and computers and shit.

Ah that's understandable, so it's nostalgia then? =P

No. Engineering aesthetics maybe?

I'd relate it to midget porn. Yeah it's kinda cool when you first learn about it and wouldn't mind checking it out to see what it's all about... but you know that's not where the lasting entertainment factor is gonna be.

- WRXtranceformed - 09-27-2007

Rofl!

Don't lie... you know you've seen midget porn at least once.

i think we're overlooking the more important factor of lexus and toyota... the dangerous floor mats

I don't know why the floor mat thing is such a big deal. Mazda recalled all the winter floormats on the 3 from like, day one.

But the toyota one is especially stupid. The problem comes when you take the winter floormat and put it ON TOP of the regular floormat.

Who does that? Geez.

- Dave - 09-27-2007

"check the accessory mats to ensure they are properly installed."
It's a freaking floor mat! You don't install it, you put the bastard in so you don't get mud on the carpet.

I especially like this one:
"In some reports, drivers traveled for miles and reached speeds exceeding 90 miles per hour before the car stopped, safety officials said. "
Holy shit, my Lexus is possessed! I'm going to sit here and allow it to travel whatever speed it wants to and not look to try to find out why I am speeding up. God dammit people, pull your head out of your ass and drive.

LOL, they make it sound like these people bought Lexus trains, then went blind while they were driving them.

sounds like the kind of people that can't be bothered to wipe their own asses.

it was the floor mat's fault officer!

SRT8 ftw
