Well at least you dont waste any time drinking up - John - 06-12-2007 TurboOmni08 Wrote:Also, what a random thing to "suppose." Why would you assume that there is such a limited target market for SRT cars? That's like saying Trojan is trying to take advantage of highschool girls because they raised the price of rubbers. The girls still want the rubbers...they will pay the price, and so will everyone else. Even if they were doing military specific advertising your statement would still not make sense. People in the military are not morons, if they buy any car its because they want it and if they accept the terms of the transaction then it is on them, not any dealer or any make, for their decision. Shame on you for a random statement. Shame on me? I'm the one exploiting ill-informed consumers (who I admit are financially irresponsible). I was turned on to this phenomenon by some Navy guys that I know here (who are mature and settled down). And I think you're overstating the common sense of a sailor that's just spent 6-12 months at sea and has the itch and 6-12 months worth of pay sitting in their account to blow. All of these kids (usually enlisted) want a fast car to enjoy while they're not deployed - so they rush out to get their new toy. The come into port, drive the car, want the car. It's fast. Hey, I'm young, I only live once... OK, let's take you to financing. After a few hours, "there's a $9K SRT program fee that's standard on all these cars"... By that time the kid has his heart sold on it and sees that he can "afford" it and signs his life away. Rationale thoughts like "what is this car going to be worth when I'm done with it?" or "Is this a car I'll drive for 7 years?" or "what are the financial consequences if I want to have a family?" don't occur. It's not a "suppose" - it's a fact. - Jeff - 06-12-2007 you said suppose friend, not I. And your statement can be attached to countless rednecks and others who wish to live outside their means. I have 'family' like this, who will finance there way into anything possible. This is not something you can push on dealers of any make. Kia and Hyundai bury people in cars around here, some of our biggest pay-offs on trades are from the Harrisonburg and Winchester Kia dealers. So don't try to act like this is a Chrysler or American car thing...anyone who finances looks for people like this, thats how they make money. I remember a comment about JMU having a weak economics program...seems like "making money" should have been the bottom line. The only issue here is you think Chrysler dealers are selling snake oil, a smoke screen of value and quality. Its pointless to argue this point with you or mike or anyone here really. Honda can mark up their Hybrids and other cars and that is super cool ok! You can argue about the resale value and such all you want, the bottom line is the same, everyone is looking to make a buck. Just keep on saying these cars are a bad investment...you are preaching to the choir here. - Evan - 08-06-2007 http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/02/behi ... -chrysler/ - Mike - 08-06-2007  - BLAIR - 08-08-2007 well... i got a pimp ass job Bitches... I would love to defend all these chrysler hate posts. I have lots of insite to give but i dont have the energy for an all out MM forum debate.
