I agree on the black paint though... black XR's look sweet!
Bah whatever, you know what I mean. Those flecks they put in the paint that make it look like it's changing colors when it drives by. Tongue

Then put some parnelli jones stripes on the side

Photoshop it and see how it looks! My graphical visualization skills are nonexistent :-).

I don't know how to do that, I had someone else do it like a year and a half ago.

metal flake? Uh, no, this paint will be Dupont Acrylic Lacquer. Cheap, basic and to the point.

white_2kgt Wrote:How much 'fitting' needs to be done on that body kit? There's more pieces to it than I remember. To make it really look good there's going to be some trimming/fitting that needs to be done, and with a shiny black paint, it will show each and every mistake. Better stock up on some bondo! lol

Kit includes:
Hood Vents
Front Grill
Front Bumper
Front Splitter
Wheel Arches
Side Skirts
Rear Wing (upper)
Rear Wing (lower)

Fitting is going to be quite necessary with mine becasue of the mods done to get it low. It'll be an experience.

Paint will be single stage black.

That would be great if it were a show car, and thanks for the suggestion.

However, this is a race car, and it's going to get banged and bruised, so I'm going to use a single stage paint that's easy to touch up and buff out...

Keep it coming guys!

No prob =) I just figured since you're technically sponsored and all, you'd want it to pop !

Rattlecan it black like we did on Maeng's Miata top. For the proper effect though, you have to be drunk.

No hood vents? Sad

He's already got those, and they are installed correctly!!!!

Oh yeah!

Hood Vents, and
Front Grill

How could I forget :-).

Ass!

I get *real* hood vents this time though :-).

those swept back stripes are kind of what I was talking about with the white - but solid - with some kind of bling-tastic numbers on the doors just ahead of the stripe. I dont think i'd do the one on the hood..too much is tacky.

- PDenbigh - 05-09-2007

Hmm, maybe so. Again, it's hard for me to visualize but I sorta get what you're saying.

I need a number on the hood for the Timing and Scoring guys, makes their job much easier.

- PDenbigh - 05-09-2007

BTW for anyone that *might* be Photoshopping it, my number is "32".

Like this?

- HAULN-SS - 05-09-2007

yeah, something like that..inverted colors maybe...and not sucha shitty design for the number - make it look pretty sweet - maybe overlapping the stripe a little..and maybe make the stripe a little wider

- HAULN-SS - 05-09-2007

Also - so, your kit/plans or whatever involve making that one solid window in the back?

- PDenbigh - 05-09-2007

Na, I'm leaving the window alone. If nothing else it adds a bit of structure. Not to mention the time/skill to cut it and have it look right...

- Goodspeed - 05-09-2007

That kit is very tasteful, I like it a lot! I always liked the little picture of that kitted Merkur in your avatar Big Grin. I vote all black, but if you want a race car look these are two I like:

Escort Cosworth style rally car look

- ScottyB - 05-10-2007

sweet deal Pete!! RS500's are so classic....love it. i would say that if you want to do anything with a different color, keep it above belt line/window line. if you get into other cars like you say you might, you don't need to be wasting time trying to match up some kind of color scheme on your door...just paint right over it.

i'll try to get something for you, but i lost photoshop at home during a reformatting session (it wasn't exactly a legitimate copy) by accident so my only access is here at work

- PDenbigh - 05-10-2007

Thanks Scotty! That's a good suggestion about ease-of-touchup.

What do you think the above drawn picture would look like with an inverted scheme of a black base and white accents?
