- bimmerboodle - 04-25-2007 I keep getting page cannot be displayed errors on the various freq. links - Mike - 04-25-2007 there is a flash application linked near the top of the story. - Mike - 04-25-2007 HAULN-SS Wrote:Well, i just tried this - I could hear up to 17k fine, and the only other one I could hear was 21k. It's like I'm deaf to those in between there. then you didn't hear the 21k... you heard something distorting 21k to something you could hear. headphones are much better for this test. - HAULN-SS - 04-25-2007 I was using overear sony headphones - bimmerboodle - 04-25-2007 Mike Wrote:there is a flash application linked near the top of the story. Thanks Mike - Mike - 04-25-2007 HAULN-SS Wrote:I was using overear sony headphones i believe it. you said you were going home to use speakers, which i would recommend against. - Ryan T - 04-25-2007 Mike Wrote:HAULN-SS Wrote:Well, i just tried this - I could hear up to 17k fine, and the only other one I could hear was 21k. Not necessarily, you can have a hearing deficiency in a specific range and be able to hear both above and below that range. - NTIman - 04-25-2007 I can hear everything up to 16k, and I'm 22 - mrbaggio - 04-25-2007 The ones in the 13k range are a little painful. I could hear up to 17k. I could not hear the 15hz (low freq) - BLINGMW - 04-25-2007 mrbaggio Wrote:I could not hear the 15hz (low freq) do you have a speaker that can reproduce that? Most wouldn't. And yeah, as I expected, Jess could make out the 18k, she's 25. - Dave - 04-25-2007 cradle robber! :-D Ban the old fart and strip him of his E30s! I really don't know what to think of this, but I really feel like it isn't age dependent. Now, in 5 years, we need to resurrect this thread and see if the results change. THAT, would be an interesting experiment. - Sijray21 - 04-25-2007 Sijray21 Wrote:heard it, kinda hurt my boss (37) could not hear the original link that bagg sent - mrbaggio - 04-25-2007 BLINGMW Wrote:mrbaggio Wrote:I could not hear the 15hz (low freq) Not sure. They are Altec Lansing from a dell I bought in 2000. I have bose Triport headphones at work I will try it with those. - Mike - 04-26-2007 Ryan T Wrote:Mike Wrote:HAULN-SS Wrote:Well, i just tried this - I could hear up to 17k fine, and the only other one I could hear was 21k. They are Altec Lansing from a dell I bought in 2000. Yeah, I doubt that's going to work. See: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-YE4d1CW7JQ ... sp?g=12300 You'll notice that none of the subs listed there can even get down to 20. Let alone 15. Here's what the Mythbusters were using to test sub 20hz frequencies, trying to find the "brown note"

You might be right, but I looked on the Bose site for the specs on my headphones but did not find them listed. I also looked at Sony and found their over the ear HPs have "Frequency Response: 8-80,000Hz." Their earbud HPs have "Frequency Response: 5Hz - 25,000Hz" So the sony headphones should be able to play all the sounds on that site right? I will be the first to admit I know little about sound and less about sound producing devices. - Mike - 04-26-2007 boss can only hear 15. - BLINGMW - 04-26-2007 mrbaggio Wrote:So the sony headphones should be able to play all the sounds on that site right? Well... I guess they SHOULD.... but I'm pretty skeptical of those ranges, don't know if that'd even be possible. And of course, your soundcard may or may not actually produce a 15hz tone as well. So I don't know! :dunno: |
