.380 is a good carry caliber. Keeps the gun small and lite. Its just a 38 short.....38 is trusty and can git the job done.

The Bersa def. looks better...but it's 2x-3x the price!

Missed this one,

It may be 2-3X the price, but just hold it in your hand one time...its 2-3 times the Quality is well. But on that same theme, I'm not sure the glock (5+ times the cost of the Hi-Point) is worth it...so thats what draws me to the little Bersa. That and there are positive review everywhere.

I'm into the main stream gun makers... and some of the "older" used in war type guns. I've never heard of these guns you are talking about. I guess the redneck isnt so strong in me today.

if you want a gun that you can conceal and shoot around with cheaply... it means you need it to stand up to the abuse of going to the range and then be put on your hip and conceal.

Other than that i dont have anything to add. I'd save your pennies and get something worth owning for a while. but i'm not one to sell or trade my fire arms.

Well, I couldn't help myself. Every reviewer loved it, got a good deal, I'm happy with it so far. $308 with the ammo, spare mag, and holster.

Its a Bersa Thunder 380 in Duo-tone...

Sweet paddle holster...highly recommended

Comparing 9mm to 380 its not a huge difference

A personal favorite is the bangin integrated lock, the little key goes right in the side and will lock every function of the gun out.

I'll do a little write up on it as I take it to the range and abuse it a bit

I saw this thread too late but Jeff, all I have heard about the Bersa Thunder has been excellent. Another good, inexpensive handgun in that category is the 9X18 Makarov. The FEG PA-63 is a sort of clone as well and can be had in .380.

I really like that built in trigger lock!

- Jeff - 04-29-2007

I can't wait to get it out and blast caps...damn these exams!

- bimmerboodle - 04-29-2007

I couldn't see the pics from work...
You will like that Fobus holster. I have one for my Mak. You really need to wear a stiff belt with them though. Mine is very comfortable. If you use that lock then lose the key, you are fucked. I would hide that key in a safe box and never lock it. You don't want to be looking for that stupid key in a stressful situation. I can tell you first hand, it is incredibly stressful and the adrenalin has you juiced when someone is trying to break in your place....one reason a revolver is a pretty good house gun.

- Jeff - 04-29-2007

The key is simply an inverted hex key...no magic to it. I don't lock it anyway, its just a neat feature.

Taurus has taken to putting that kind of feature on their stuff too.IMO, it is just something that has the potential to break. While I don't really agree with the reasoning why it is even there, I do understand it.
