- HAULN-SS - 02-20-2007 If you're building a system from scratch, the turbos and plumbing or any other apparatus is gonna cost roughly the same too. - CaptainHenreh - 02-20-2007 HAULN-SS Wrote:If you're building a system from scratch, the turbos and plumbing or any other apparatus is gonna cost roughly the same too. He's not. 1JZ's are good for 280 (Gentleman's Agreement) horsepower out of the box, and for 2500 bucks and a bolt in job, it's hard to turn down. I mean, I'm all for putting a V8 in something, but when a perfectly good 24Valve twin turbo inline six is right there... - PDenbigh - 02-20-2007 Hopefully it was obvious that I was joking... - Ryan T - 02-20-2007 That really sucks man, but if you can pick up a front clip with the r154 I think you'll definantely be happier than if you were running the stock transmission you have. - CaptainHenreh - 02-20-2007 Ryan T Wrote:That really sucks man, but if you can pick up a front clip with the r154 I think you'll definantely be happier than if you were running the stock transmission you have. He's not running an R154. He wont' be using a W58, either. Bastard. :-p - Ryan T - 02-20-2007 He will be running an r154 once he gets a whole soarer front clip. - Nis01 - 02-20-2007 Sorry to hear this Blair. Drift the duallie at the show??

My original plan was to use a soarer automatic motorset. thats what is commonly done when you already have a 5 speed sc. everything still works fine. Now I have a deposit on a soarer 5 speed motorset ( which is super rare and sought after) it uses the r154 ( soarer version ) Im paying about 700 bucks extra but this trans wont blow up right away like my stock 5 speed would have. In the long run im getting something better, just paying alittle extra now and waiting alittle longer So overall its all working out for the better - D_Eclipse9916 - 02-20-2007 Hey blair, could it make it one day drifting? I will 80% be doing one day of the drift event. - BLAIR - 02-20-2007 D_Eclipse9916 Wrote:Hey blair, could it make it one day drifting? If they have it let me know I can see waht type of price I can get for you. - BLAIR - 02-20-2007 .paul Wrote:Blair, noyan never has and will never have a 1J..thanks though.. there are pretty much no soarer 1J's in the US.. i got my sr20 from noyan..good people.. i got some friends there and a good hookup there also - Dave - 02-20-2007 thanks for being my guinea pig Blair, be sure to chronicle this swap well :-D - Dave - 02-20-2007 as for my supra swap troubles and the 1J... The 1J fits perfectly into a JZA80 chassis (93+) if it's from a soarer, supra 1J is lots of work. However the supra 1J fits into the JZA70 chassis, which is 88-92 supra here. I bought one 1J that I got scammed on and never got my money back (one day I will track the fucker down), bought another one off ebay which was actually from a Soarer, and finally bought a third which I went and picked up with a minivan from Avis rentals after I pulled out the back seat. I eventually sold the Soarer 1J for close to the price I bought it for. Despite all of this, I love the engine. It loves to rev and does so very freely, plus the stock ceramic turbos spool up stupid fast. Too bad they aren't worth anything over 14psi, but it'll be fun until they disintegrate. - .paul - 02-20-2007 oh okay - my dad went to school back in afghanistan with the owners brother, only reason i offered - got my swap there a while back - ScottyB - 02-20-2007 Dave Wrote:Despite all of this, I love the engine.
