- Feersty - 01-16-2007 Ryan did you buy it just because it was cheap, or have you always wanted to boost your car? Regardless, nice buy! - WRXtranceformed - 01-16-2007 Siick dude, now the money pit truly begins!! haha - Dave - 01-16-2007 I've got a big-ass intercooler for you. :-) - Ryan T - 01-17-2007 How much for the intercooler dave? Might just have to take it off your hands. - Dave - 01-17-2007 copied from my FS ad from a while ago (kinda dropped the ball on a couple things. Megan Racing Intercooler. 3" inlet/ 3" outlet. I mean, how are you going to make that huge DP fit into your current exhaust system? - Dave - 01-17-2007 the downpipe should bolt right up to the 2nd cat, which will lead into his exhaust. IIRC, the stock NA header has a split with two primary cats (3 pipes to each), which join together just before the secondary cat. This means Thayer is also going to eliminate some cats/restriction. Personally, I'd get a high-flow cat or a test pipe at this point, since the cat is now going to be the restriction on his exhaust flow, which we all know is critical to a turbo. - .RJ - 01-17-2007 Dave Wrote:Personally, I'd get pete to make me a side exit exhaust, for minimum restriction Fixed that
- Ryan T - 01-17-2007 I may be eliminating a cat. I'm not worried about the downpipe being too big though, since my exhaust is 3.5" from the cat back. - ScottyB - 01-18-2007 i can't wait to hear this thing with this exhaust... 3.5 inches yeeeaaahhh ha...."eliminating cats".... i'm telling PETA! - Steve85 - 01-18-2007 Congrats Ryan. What is the compression of the NA motor vs the turbo? PS. look behind you...now look up....that's the top of the slippery slope, enjoy the ride! - Ryan T - 01-18-2007 Stock n/a compression is 10.0:1 and the stock TT compression is 8.5:1. - xvxax - 01-18-2007 Is the compression lowered via a head gasket, or are different pistons used in the two models? - Ryan T - 01-18-2007 Compression is changed via a headgasket. I'm keeping the stock headgasket for now though, that's why I'm limited to around 7psi. If you start pushing more than around 10psi you have to look into things like the turbo tranny's, injectors, fuel systems, pumps, $blah, $blah, $blah. - Feersty - 01-18-2007 Ryan T Wrote:Compression is changed via a headgasket. Boosting your car can bring a myriad of issues that you need to address. Its a slippery slope. - BLAIR - 01-18-2007 xvxax Wrote:Is the compression lowered via a head gasket, or are different pistons used in the two models? pistons |
