dave, i really really really hate you. a lot.

- Dave - 01-04-2007

i'm really thinking about getting some hood vents too, since IIRC they are supposed to be really helpful for, get this, aerodynamics. I'm sure it helps with cooling too, but I believe I read that these vents help eliminate some of the high speed lift that hurts these cars.

- CaptainHenreh - 01-04-2007

They also prevent vaporlock, which was the big thing they were designed for.

- Andy - 01-04-2007

Vaporlock? That shit still happens to cars. Ghey

I stand by my statement that that's ghey.

Dave,

Ill throw this in - The hood vents on the cossie sierra (and now my XR!) were for 2 things - heat dissipation and aero. They allow air to flow under the car and then up and out of the hood, as opposed to air flowign under the car and building up pressure and lifting the front.

So, I'd say in that regard, you're not nuts ;-).

- Jeff - 01-05-2007

Dave...if you want them you can have them for the $20 I paid. I don't think they will look as good on the van as I thought. (yeah, I am being serious... I need some kind of vent for over the IC)

- Chris - 01-06-2007

wow Dave, that is badass! Thats going to take a ton of work, but I know you're up to it. good luck!

Back from the dead!
Got the car to my house, finally, about 2 weeks ago and now it taunts me constantly :-). I've been gathering partZ slowly over the past couple weeks and working out a plan for this car.
I need help on my wheel selection. It's absolutely necessary, so don't tell me to spend my money elsewhere. I'm aiming for 15s since I'm pretty sure 14s won't clear the brakes and anything much bigger has crappy tire selections or looks funny. My choices are:
-Rota RB 15x8 $850
-Konig Rewind 18x7 $500

Feel free to insert others as well, just something classy that has a retro feel to it and goes with the car.

- .RJ - 09-04-2007

Rota RB's - great size, and plenty of tire selection. Are there any 17" wheels that fit well?

- HAULN-SS - 09-04-2007

are those the ones that kind of look like panasports? if so, plus juan

- Dave - 09-04-2007

17s will work, I assume a 17x8 is recommended. I think they look too big for the car though, so I'm aiming lower.
The RBs are very similar to the Panasports, and the Rewind is like a modernized panasport. It's got the retro feel, but looks a little more modern. Sorry I'm too lazy to actually put up pictures.

- .RJ - 09-04-2007

If you wanted to make more power down the road, the 17" tire selection for 225 and wider is much better Smile I think the car would look pretty sweet with 17's.

- Evan - 09-04-2007

17s would look gross on that car.

i rest my case (and thats after lowering)

16s would probably look ok, but its all about the retro 15s
My vote is RBs, I like them more than the Rewinds.

- .RJ - 09-04-2007

Those wheels are atrocious.

- Dave - 09-04-2007

PS If you guys know of somewhere I can get these at a better price than I listed at the top, let me know. I lean toward the Rewinds b/c they're significantly cheaper, but I like the RBs style more, plus they're wider.

- ScottyB - 09-05-2007

RB RB RB RB! i think that's a fantastic wheel for the price. panasport look wheels were made for miatas, minis and 240Z's IMO.

if price wasn't as big a deal i'd love to see some crazy retro BBS wheels on there, in like 15x8

I cant find the picture now, but i had a picture of my roommates silver 240 on panasports posted ont his forum somewhere. it looks damn good if you ask me. They were basically made for the car
