well, I think you're full of shit, but it matters not.
It was still completed in a short timeframe, which all other track projects have proven

- .RJ - 11-16-2006

IIRC, there were preliminary dates on it for the spring of '04, and through the year - the track was ready (and opened) in Oct '04.

- Apoc - 11-16-2006

I may be full of shit, but not about this. I distinctly remember the events as my dad was the registrar for NASA that year and he required my help with some of the more techincal aspects of it. (read: I had mad 1337 status y0!)

- Maengelito - 11-16-2006

Apoc Wrote:Uh no... it was ready a full year after Bill Scott himself told people like Cobetto (and other sanctioning bodies) that it would be ready for events. The internet speculation was on-going since most weren't privy to the BSR promises but that's not the entire story. NASA-VA even had it on their unpublished prelim schedule and had to remove it because the track wasn't going to be ready. Nice try though.

i do remember it being on nasa's schedule for atleast a whole year but the date kept getting pushed back and/or cancelled. leave it to evan to start an argument when i'm trying to support his point about believing it when i see/drive on it

- .RJ - 11-16-2006

The track still opened that same year. Just because NASA didnt run an event on it until the following year.... oh wait, they did run an event the same year, by invitation only Wink

grrrr!! must....argue!!!..... everyone is wrooooong! even meeeee !!!!

- Feersty - 11-16-2006

It is New Jersey though. Who funds tracks like Thunderbolt anyways?

They knew they couldn't fill an event and "invited a select few" so they could turn around and tell everyone how great it was.

Conspiracy!!

Whats that I hear? Black helicoptors?

My tinfoil hat is in the way!

3rd post Rob...
Evan Wrote:This track has better than average odds since its being lead by the developers/owners of VIR.
If it is completed, its going to be one hell of a busy track since its within reasonable driving distance of every major metro market in the NE
NJ is a damn good location (other than the fact that its NJ)

My sentiments exactly. If I had a concern it would be the asshole NJ'ers trying to rep their streets by redmisting their car into yours though their trashy big boobed girlfriends would be interesting to look at in the paddock as you're waiting for towtruck to come get your pile.

- .RJ - 11-16-2006

It looks like its near atlantic city, so maeng will be there. Brackjack!

- Maengelito - 11-16-2006

shit, thats two very expensive ways to have fun

- Feersty - 11-16-2006

You will probably NYC money at that track too, so rides should be even more ridiculous.

- Andy - 01-30-2007

Interweb rumors has it that Thunderbolt should start breaking ground later this spring with the opening sometime in 08. Corzine approved funds, township approved the construction and they're awaiting FAA approval or some junk.

Now I can drive to Jersey instead of through Jersey. Big Grin

- MidasHands - 01-30-2007

OK! Enough of the Jersey bashing. Don't get me wrong, I grew up in NOVA and I used to think the same things about New Jersey but it really is a nice state and everything is so close.

...and from a business owners standpoint everything is readily available.

I heard about this project a while ago, but I didn't think anything would ever come of it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

- .RJ - 01-30-2007

Its still on

From another board:

Quote:I can confirm bidding is out on the street. Something for doing survey layout line and grade came my way about a month ago. This track should be for real in '08

And Jersey still sucks.

- G.Irish - 01-30-2007

I'd be surprised if they could get it all done in 1 year but I could see them opening sometime in 08. Hopefully it'll be up to FIA/FIM specs so we could possibly get a F1, Moto GP, and/or WSBK races to go there.

- Hunter - 01-30-2007

Yes!!!

the track layout looks really nice, anyone know how much elevation change there is in the area they're building the track.

.RJ Wrote:And Jersey still sucks.

The having other people pump my gas bothers me. Do I have to tip those people?
