The Australia position opened up again and Im considering it.

if i had 3 months to prepare for something like that i'd do it in a heartbeat. I'd love to travel or work internationally (depending on location of course).

3 months? I can have my shit packed in 3 days. Or 3 hours..... I am a bit jealous of Jack's travels, looks like you're having a good time! Smile If I had the opportunity with my current job I'd be all over it at this point.

It's infested with mosteeqos, there's tons of trash everywhere, and the streets are really smelly from all the 2-stroke exhaust. I think that it has personality. There's a street festival going on all the time, people are friendly, street crime is rare, and if you like Indian culture, this is a better place to be than a more modern Indian city. I wouldn't want to live in Hyderabad, but it's definitely made me even more interested in visiting the coast of the country.

Why don't you ever cuddle me anymore?

My last company had a huge office in India, and its a pretty big culture shock according to my coworkers who went. Our office is a huge building that overlooks a slum of lean-tos and 3rd world poverty.
So many people die in traffic accidents that project managers actually had to account for the fact they would probably loose someone on a longer term project!
People are so cheap there that when they would ship a US person over there, they get their own driver, assistant, and in the office you never clean anything or even erase a whiteboard yourself.

I have to admit, Im starting to waver from my previous "fuck travelling" attitude.
The Australia position opened up again and Im considering it.
I did have a driver and everyone does everything for you there no matter what. It's just the way the culture is. I didn't get near carrying a bag or preparing food the whole time. As far as culture shock goes, I grew up in places like that so I felt almost better there than I do here.

3 months?!?!? Every trip that I've taken for this company has had less than 3 days notice. Australia was 2 days notice for a 2 month trip.

In general, traveling like this isn't for everyone. I know lots of my friends have said, "Ohhh I'd LOVE to do that" but when push comes to shove, most people don't want to leave their friends/family for that long on such short notice.

haha - well i was talking about like a year-project or something. i was just thinking of selling items such as motorcycle, car, furniture and then ending lease or finding sublet for cost saving purposes. regardless i'd love to travel and i wouldn't pass it up! you have an awesome opportunity to travel like you're doing and i'm glad you're taking advantage of it!
