- Ginger - 08-28-2006 LOL! I should wear pucks to court! "See, your Honor? I do take my safe motorcycling seriously!" *leaves court on one wheel* - ScottyB - 08-28-2006 RJ hasn't mentioned assless chaps, has he? - Ginger - 08-29-2006 Update: I was looking at the listing online last night to make sure I went to the right place. I noticed that the case is filed as 'misdemeanor' not 'infraction' the way normal speeding/failure to obey highway sign etc. are filed. Not good. I'm getting dressed to go to court now - slacks and all - and it's raining. This is why you buy rain gear... hope I can find all that stuff. I'm pretty nervous about what's going to happen. The thought of having a misdemeanor crime, of any sort, on my record really bothers me. I think I'm going to plead no contest and hope that the judge doesn't see me as just another jerk on a sportbike. To recap: In my favor: I took care of the registration the same day that I received the ticket. I wasn't charged with any moving violations (I wasn't riding around like a jackass). Not in my Favor: Um... Virginia General District Court... anything else? I'll post up when I get back. Throw the M's for me and keep your fingers crossed. - Feersty - 08-29-2006 I'll say a prayer for you man! - .RJ - 08-29-2006 Feersty Wrote:I'll say a prayer for you man! How do you think I got a job? - .RJ - 08-29-2006 Well, most of us should probably be saying a prayer for andrew, but it has nothing to do with his ticket for illegal tags. - Dragon - 08-29-2006 Feersty Wrote:Something tells me it might have had something to do with your degree and interview, and nothing to do with prayer. . . . . but we're not going to get into a religious discussion here.Dragon Wrote:.RJ Wrote:Yeah but it is Andrew.Feersty Wrote:I'll say a prayer for you man! - .RJ - 08-29-2006 Feersty Wrote:..and every bit helps. How do you think I got a job? I'm not trying to get your panties in a knot because I have my own views on religion, and I at least try to respect others views on it as well. But, that said, crediting a job offer becuase someone said a prayer for you is a bit out in left field. IMHO. You get a job for many reasons (persistence, resume, experience, personal relationships, etc). I am sure a religious discussion will ensue from here. Hooray off-topic! - JustinG - 08-29-2006 i have similar beliefs to Mel Gibson.... SERIOUSLY JOKING I IN NOW WAY HAVE SIMILAR BELIEFS TO MEL GIBSON BUT I JUST THOUGHT IT WAS FUNNY.....[/img] - CaptainHenreh - 08-29-2006 And Lo! The Great Avacado did masturbate the universe into existance, yea, we are part of it, and it of us, and we are the seed and He is the flesh and the crinkly skin that which we see not. And it shall come to pass that the Great Other will come, and crush our universe, verily, and dip in to us (Verily, it shall come to pass) great cosmic chips. Nay, not slices of potato nor patties of cosmic soy, but corn And those that remain shall be planted as one, and a new universe shall be seeded forth. - Ginger - 08-29-2006 Well, I'm back. If there were prayers... well: Fight Club Wrote:Listen to me! You have to consider the possibility that God does not like you. He never wanted you. In all probability, he hates you. This is not the worst thing that can happen. I froze up in court and plead guilty. Lay on the hate. I deserve it. I think that I was hoping that the judge would reduce the charge... I didn't know what to say if I plead no contest. No dice, unfortunately. The fines at court costs only came to $97. That's no big deal... but I'm a bit upset at myself because I have a criminal record now. RJ pointed out that it's just traffic court. I talked about that with my Dad *cough, yes, I still talk to my dad* about that. He made it very clear that, to his understanding , a misdemeanor charge, traffic court or not, is a misdemeanor and creates a criminal record. Can anybody comment on that? And there you have it - your very own motorcycle CriMMinal - Dragon - 08-29-2006 asteele2 Wrote:RJ pointed out that it's just traffic court. Can anybody comment on that?I'm sure there's someone within MM that has personal experience with this and can comment. I'll talk with a few officer friends of mine and find out what they say as well. You've got the bad boy thing going on now man, chicks dig that, you're gonna get all kinds of 'tang. - Apoc - 08-29-2006 I'm pretty sure "criminal record" is for felonies and not misdemeanors. - Mike - 08-29-2006 yes, a misdemeanor is a misdemeanor... i have one too for going 84mph are you sure fake plates is one, though? don't worry, you won't have ANY problems getting a job or clearance due to it. IF the background check even finds it they'll give it no value at all when they see what it is, but as far as i've seen, nobody cares about misdemeanors (traffic or criminal) at all. - Ginger - 08-29-2006 I apprecaite the comments on jobs and clearances.. that's what I was most worried about. As long as it's not going to slow down my progress in real life I'm not going to worry about it. Matt's IM conversation with me: (11:02:49) Matt: you know, chicks dig the bad boy thing, now that you're a criMMinal you're gonna get all kinds of 'tang (11:04:51) J a z z 0 6 0 2: rock it with the bike (11:04:53) J a z z 0 6 0 2: and the black leather (11:05:00) J a z z 0 6 0 2: I'll be golden (11:11:19) Matt: too bad no-one will believe a "ginger" is a badass crimminal - Gs dewd - 08-29-2006 Don't enter a plead the judge will listen the the officer then ask you what you have and if you have it fixed then you may get lucky and get off of it. I have gotten tickets lowered and a couple dropped by not pleading and giving them info like wrong tires on car (which was true at the time) and such. Just tell them you just got the bike and was taking it home or something and they may drop it. - Kaan - 08-29-2006 as far as the criminal charge... well its traffic related... and as long as you fess up to it... your clearance will go through fine... they dont like seeing drug possession... distribution... stuff like that. Trust me you are fine... me on the other hand... i'm facing my 10th traffic point next weds. gotta get the exhuast fixed this weekend so those two tickets get tossed out... make up some nice poster board on speed and how you have to go faster than someone to actually catch them... stuff like that. ;-) - Andy - 08-29-2006 I don't know what clearances you guys have but I know a reckless ticket *may* put your clearance in jeopardy. I know my company makes a fuss about having a clean a record as possible including your driving record. I know of three folks we hired that DHS rejected for traffic related stuff though 2 of them had DUI's but it was like several decades prior. |
