- Andy - 05-18-2006 Mike Wrote:yawn. +1 It's weird. I use to be really big into shiny dyno HP's but after being exposed to track/autox, I realized that you don't need huge numbers to pucker your ass. Damn Sport Compact Car to hell. - Goodspeed - 05-18-2006 Andy Wrote:Mike Wrote:yawn. Haha, I'm a big fan of SCC as well. I just got home and read the February issue, with the boost on a budget article. A KA-T 240 is now my current sickness. 225 wheel hp for a thousand bucks? hell yes. I've been a subscriber for a few years, it looks like its making a comeback, Jacquot really brought it back from the brink of death...now i'm just waiting for it to get thicker! - .RJ - 05-18-2006 Goodspeed Wrote:Haha, I'm a big fan of SCC as well We can tell ![]() Ditch the SCC, and read GRM, Evo and Racecar Engineering instead..... you wont even use SCC to wipe your ass with after that. - G.Irish - 05-18-2006 Mike Wrote:yawn. I think the Veyron is a rather lame and unimaginative supercar. Put a huge honking motor in a 4500 lbs chassis, make sure the aero keeps it from flipping at high speed, and call it a day. I'm sure plenty of other manufacturers could do the same but they wouldn't waste their time doing something so unoriginal. - Goodspeed - 05-18-2006 I have picked up a few GRM's and I like them a lot, and I think I have an Evo or two, haven't read the last one you mentioned...I like SCC cause they have a great balance of feature articles/humor/tech, but i'll be sure to take your advice and pick up a subscription to GRM! - Evan - 05-18-2006 G.Irish Wrote:I think the Veyron is a rather lame and unimaginative supercar. Save for the occasional Enzo or F1. on a related note, I saw a Murcielago on my way in, and Countach on tuesday - Mike - 05-18-2006 scc is garbage... i ended my subscription probably 3 years ago. - G.Irish - 05-18-2006 Yeah I used to have a subscription to SCC a few years ago too but the rice/ads to content ratio started getting too poor for me and I didn't resubscribe. It might be getting better now but I rarely even pick it up to glance at it. Racecar Engineering, Evo, CAR, and GRM are pretty much the only car mags I read, then Bike (UK), Performance Bike (UK), Road Racer X, and Supermoto Racer are my moto magazines. - Sijray21 - 05-18-2006 G.Irish Wrote:Yeah I used to have a subscription to SCC a few years ago too but the rice/ads to content ratio started getting too poor for me and I didn't resubscribe. The articles got shitty and i think they got a new editor or something b/c they got better a couple years ago. They brought back the sentra tear-down project and a few others. I like reading GRM a lot more though. My favorite article and inspiration is still that quick mk1 rabbit vw (grey one featured) in the GRM a few issues ago. - G.Irish - 05-18-2006 Evan Wrote:G.Irish Wrote:I think the Veyron is a rather lame and unimaginative supercar. Save for the occasional Enzo or F1. Pretty much, which is why I'm not really into most supercars. The F40, F1, F50, S7, and Enzo are the only ones in the last 20 or so I'd be interested in. Of those the F1 is by far my favorite. - Evan - 05-18-2006 SCC should be given credit that it sucks a lot less than the other import mags. I think we all went through the phase that Goodspeed is in now, and probably most of us more recent than we admit. I know I read SCC when I first bought the WRX - G.Irish - 05-18-2006 Well its just that SCC went way downhill for awhile. Don't know where it is now but it just seems like it got really fluffy and inane. I guess all of the domestic bashing got kinda old too. - .RJ - 05-18-2006 Evan Wrote:I know I read SCC when I first bought the WRX
- Evan - 05-18-2006 fucker. at least it was at the track where is the saturn with its aftermarket LED gauges? - .RJ - 05-18-2006 Evan Wrote:where is the saturn with its aftermarket LED gauges? Dont hate. The Lunchbox crashed better than the WRX ![]()
- Evan - 05-18-2006 you're still in the ricer phase - Goodspeed - 05-18-2006 G.Irish Wrote:Well its just that SCC went way downhill for awhile. They did go way downhill, crowned by the January '04 issue that was all about burnouts...and...thats it. They readily admit that they sucked, and they are starting to make a comeback....more tech, more interesting articles, and most of all they are resurrecting many of their old project cars such as the Miata and turbo Festiva. I have a subscription to Hot Rod, since I was 12, my parents got it for me cause I was way into old hot rods and muscle cars. But they are THE most pretentious pricks in the auto journalism industry. You think SCC is bad about domestics, just read one Hot Rod. They used to be a bit more open minded (they even featured a land speed Civic once) but they've gone back to being the kings of suck. - .RJ - 05-18-2006 Evan Wrote:you're still in the ricer phase Whatever, with j00r red trailer, vinyl and gold wheels.... you're as much rice as I am. - Evan - 05-18-2006 .RJ Wrote:show me how many ricers have red trailersEvan Wrote:you're still in the ricer phase vinyl belongs on a racecar I dont remember the last time I even washed my car. how about you mr. $400 dent removal and $250 buffer Mr Spoiler got nuthin on your fl0ssin skillz - Sijray21 - 05-18-2006 you're both ricers one has a gold vavle cover and one has a matching truck/trailer/car color scheme going
