There's nothing wrong with loans, especially now when interest rates are low. They can help you build credit, and you can buy a better car. - Mike - 04-19-2004 Feersty Wrote:MichaelJComputer Wrote:Feersty Wrote:When I buy a car, I will not lease it. I will pay all of what it is worth on the same day. I understand, but I don't understand why you said it. - Feersty - 04-19-2004 Because at this point I don't have the money to buy a different car, I am still kinda looking at a bike. - .RJ - 04-19-2004 Feersty Wrote:Because at this point I don't have the money to buy a different car, I am still kinda looking at a bike. Then wait till you're done with school? Or get a job - Dave - 04-19-2004 loans are great, as long as you don't get one thats too big. IF you have a good credit history, you can finance a $2000 and pay like $50/month, which really isn't that bad. Furthermore, if you've got a good chunk saved up, thats an additional $2000 in mods or even a better car that will be available with a loan. Not to mention the benefits of building a strong credit history. Two years ago they laughed at me when I said I wanted an $8000 loan on a 9 year old car. Now, I can walk in and tell them how much I want and don't have to say a word. - Sijray21 - 04-20-2004 that's the primary reason i took a loan out with the bank when i had the money i took out a $1600 loan b/c i was counter offered that amount when i got rejected from a $2000 loan. The minimum payments were $75/month, and i have a balance of $116 left that's due in feb of '05. I'm planning on taking another loan out for various purposes in money and paying it back for the sole purpose of building up credit. - .RJ - 04-20-2004 Credit Cards are bettter for building credit..... *if* you pay them on time. You dont need to carry a balance, just pay on time. - Mike - 04-20-2004 Don't get a credit card. - Evan - 04-20-2004 visa r0x! - CaptainHenreh - 04-20-2004 I bought the 240 with a credit card. The actual car has been paid off, but with diff, brakes, christmas, and all that other crap, I still have money left on it. But as soon as those dudes pay me for my truck, I'm golden. Credit cards aren't the devil, they're very convinient. You just have to manage them properly. - Mike - 04-20-2004 Visa Check Card > Visa Credit Card. Don't spend money you don't have unless it is for a car or a home. That's just my opinion. - .RJ - 04-20-2004 Check card's dont build credit - Mike - 04-20-2004 Debt doesn't either. You can buy a car on a recent graduate loan and build credit that way. - .RJ - 04-20-2004 MichaelJComputer Wrote:Debt doesn't either. If you are a dumbshit and spend beyond your means, then yeah a credit card is stupid, but thats not the fault of the card, thats the fault of the owner. fix yourself before blaming the card. If you use your credit card to buy things you were going to buy anyway (groceries, gas, etc) then they are incredibly convenient and do help your credit a lot. and pay them on time of course (online pay 0wnz) I have been using credit cards since I was 18, and I got a smokin' rate on my WRX loan after college. better than any new graduate loans, and better than brenden's credit union loan. (same amount at about the same time) i didnt start carrying a balance until my stupid ass started hitting the GFCP hard - Sijray21 - 04-20-2004 this thread just got jacked, lol dimension difference to credit opinion, lol - Maengelito - 04-20-2004 having bills in your name (electricity, water, cable, phone, etc) also build credit. however, credit cards and loans are the way to go, as was said before, if you are responsible. you may not qualify for awesome rates or high amounts if you still owe a lot of money regardless of whether you pay on time or not. - Evan - 04-20-2004 oh, get a credit card now with a locked-in low rate while rates are low. even if you dont use it. also brings up the point that having a credit card for a long time builds a credit history that will help your credit |
