at this point, it probably could be driven on track. I do still have a list of stuff I'd like to do, but it is a lot shorter than it was. Things left in order of importance:
-Carbotech XP8 pads up front (ordering on Monday)
-get the dash lights to work
-hook up a radio (already have headunit and harness, just can't get it to work)
-motor mounts (already have, just need to install)
-new 02 sensor (buying this week)
-get fog lights working
-clean up the roof of the car (has rust on it and the seal around the sunroof is F'ed); possibly paint whole car
-make it faster (popcharger,battery relocation, exhaust, coilovers, rear sway bar) and safer (seats, rollbar, harnesses)
-drive this engine into oblivion...

nah, im hoping to get up to the 02 sensor before VIR, but I consider myself trackable at this time so I'm not under as much pressure now.

Dave... lets say I am a crazy retard. Just for shits and giggles lets say I got a 89 Dodge Spirit Turbo yesterday. Lets also assume this car might have been setting and had a blown head gasket for a few months. What does seafoam do and would it be useful to run though such and engine after a new HG?

I believe seafoam is supposed to be some uber-detergent sent to us from some alien colony that was replicated for mass production. Some people swear by it, saying it worked wonders for fixing some problems. Personally, if I were you, I would run the shit through the engine before you change the HG, and then you can clean up any big stuff that is left behind when you are inside. I liked the smokescreen it made, although I didn't do any dyno testing to tell if it actually did any good for the car. Put some in the oil, and suck the rest up through the intake, go run it around for 10 minutes, then drain the oil and get to work on that head.

running for 10mins without cooking the turbo/bearings with water oil might be a problem. I just need to look into what it does a bit more. Thanks dave!

You can also use it in your gas to clean out the injectors....

analysis after my first track event with this car; my thoughts and observations:
I really enjoyed driving this car. It handles great for a FWD econobox shitpile, and the stock seats rock. It is a bit underpowered, but that is alright. Suspension was good, but still has a bit left to be desired by me. I'm going to try clean it up a bit and make it perform better, as well as fix some stuff I didn't get to before this first event.
-front wheel bearing is going out. I had felt an occaisional wiggle that quickly went away. Now it wiggles and squeals; I have a feeling VIR finished the job :-)
-needs more power
-handling is good, but still leaves a bit to be desired
-slow, needs more power
-developed a small exhaust leak over the weekend as well. Not much, but it is noticeable. Kinda sucks cuz I really enjoyed driving around a silent car. Guess that streak is over :-D
Things I want to do to the car in the near future
-front wheel bearing
-replace engine mounts
-suspension goodies?
-battery relocation to trunk
-clean up rust on top, replace sunroof molding, paint car
-replace dash bulbs
-exhaust
-remove PS
-roll bar with harnesses
-possibly remove AC, but will probably wait until after summer is over

Dave, I have a sorta fix for the wheel bearing issue. I happen to have, a tool, just for replacing wheel bearings on Sentras. Made by Snap-On. Works great, I've used it before. Paid a good bit for it, and would like to get my money's worth out of it. Basically, it allows you to replace the bearing, w/ the hub still on the car, and not needing a press. I've got to replace a friend's rear bearing soon, but otherwise it'll be here. Call me.

engine mounts: prothans if you want solid mounts. They are only about 50 bucks but they will make the car rattle at idle. ES inserts are also an alternative, as well as diy mounts using urethane from mcmaster.
suspension stuff: progress coilvers and sway bar.
battery relocation: The weight of the proper gauge wire is fairly large. I don't think its worth the effort. Just get a lightweight battery (one of those 13 pound suckers, if its not a daily driver that is).
exhaust: stromung, vrs, topsee/courtesy are a few to look into.
roll bar: autopower makes the only bolt in. Obviously you could also pay someone to build you one and weld it in (weld in is better...).
Ac removal: Can I get one of your AC lines :lol:.

-progress goodies are where its at
-battery relocation has two purposes. The first is to actually shift the weight of the car, but the second is to provide a direct route for airflow into an intake, since I intend to set it up to remove the headlight for track events. Plus it will make the engine bay just a little less crowded. It is a DD, also, so I'm not really interested in the little battery
-exhaust will probably be homemade, we'll see
-if I go with the rollbar, it will probably be a custom job. Thats a bit further in the future at this moment
-AC removal won't happen until end of this summer probably. You can get stuff from me once it is gone though :-).
