- WRXtranceformed - 01-08-2006 Yeah typo. They also say the previous owner's name, since he was up there quite a bit and they had his info stored in their system, so I just used MSPaint to cover it up. - ScottyB - 01-19-2006 maybe you suby guys have seen this, but yeah....all my savings want so badly to be spent on a car that does this.... STi with GT35R that makes me hate Lee more than ever now http://media.putfile.com/4th-gear-ewg - WRXtranceformed - 01-20-2006 I can't see it on Liann's computer. Anywhere hosting it in a different format? - Nis01 - 01-21-2006 How about this one. GT35R STi 40-130 pull The blip at about 80 mph was the wastegate getting stuck open for a second. - Mike - 01-21-2006 is it me or does that guy suck at shifting? - CaptainHenreh - 01-21-2006 Mike Wrote:is it me or does that guy suck at shifting? *nods* Nis01 Wrote:How about this one. GT35R STi 40-130 pull That doesn't even make any sense? Looks more like he picked the wrong gear, and had to change his mind. - Nis01 - 01-21-2006 I think he was trying to be easy on it. He is pushing 24 psi... a.k.a... not trying to pull a Lee and blow off all the hoses in the engine. and his explanation on the blip is: the blip at 80mph on the video is because my wastegate got stuck open so i only had 7psi in that gear, so i tapped the gas and away she went!! - WRXtranceformed - 01-22-2006 http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=924919 This guy just ran an 11.76 @ 120 MPH on a very similar setup. He had smaller fuel injectors and a few less power adders than my setup. He was running a race gas tune that got him over 400whp but less torque than my pump gas tune. This gives me a little hope that with a lot of practice someday at the strip I could pull mid 11s on pump gas and who knows on 100-110 octane! - Nis01 - 01-22-2006 Yea. That post of running 11's in the quarter is the same guy from the video of the 40-130 pull. Cool guy. Plans on rebuilding the engine soon for even more power... - WRXtranceformed - 01-22-2006 Nice! Well, I got my launching technique figured out this past week with Jeff and Nick at the expense of about half of my clutch's life heheh. It seems the 5-6k clutch dump / partial slip is the only way to launch that car without bogging. - Nis01 - 01-22-2006 Redline clutch drop FTW! - WRXtranceformed - 02-09-2006 Yeap so I blew my motor. - HAULN-SS - 02-09-2006 heh - ScottyB - 02-09-2006 WRXtranceformed Wrote:Yeap so I blew my motor. hock: details?
- Feersty - 02-09-2006 OH no! F*CK - WRXtranceformed - 02-09-2006 Not yet. Compression was 120ish, 120ish, 70.... then they stopped testing it. Block can be reused, I'm waiting to hear back on what needs to be replaced. Pistons, heads are likely. Initial labor cost is high so I'll probably spend the extra cash to upgrade to forged internals and build the engine up so this is less likely to happen again. I will most likely have them replace the injectors and do the dual fuel pump setup now, as opposed to later. I may have the chance to increase the displacement of the engine as well which I will do if it isn't cost prohibitive. I was planning on paying off some of the STi's loan with the money from the WRX sale, it looks like now I'll be using some of it to fix the STi. - HAULN-SS - 02-09-2006 buy this with the money from the wrx instead http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/results.cfm?singlepart=1&partnumber=LS7 - Nis01 - 02-09-2006 Holy sh*t Lee. Bad news man. Hope you get everything taken care of. At least once its complete it will be much safer in the long run and you can run more consistent boost. Good luck. Keep us updated. It kind of seems like the last owner left you with a bum set-up with a bad tune. Thats pretty crappy that a few hard pulls and you get a blown motor... - WRXtranceformed - 02-09-2006 I think it was the combination of an aggressive tune and injectors that are not flow-matched (apparently) from the company who sells them. I'll know more tomorrow. - ScottyB - 02-09-2006 damn Lee, sorry to hear about that man.....at least its not your daily driver or anything. at least now you know you can build it up so this won't happen again |
