there are over 1 million people living in the hampton roads area alone, add that to Richmond, DC in a 2 hour radius. Its actually one of the best spots you can build a track.

most racers or track enthusiasts regularly travel 6+ hours to get to venues. track builders do not count on the locals to fill the place.

I've been meeting with the owners through my job.
Some have been critical on other boards about the time that it has taken to get this track open, but I think the owners are being cautious and trying to roll this out in a very conservative way so as not to a) burn through their investors' money and b) tick off the neighbors, especially those who were the NIMBY's at the beginning of the process.
They have a really good plan for this facility, and it will be a great place to visit, not only with Williamsburg down the highway, but also with golf courses and winery that are being built in New Kent around the Colonial Downs exit.

I think Froede was pointing out that there are not a lot of locals who live close enough to the track for noise to be a problem. Regionally it will be closer to Richmond than VIR which will be a big plus and of course now we'll have 4 facilities within 5 hours. Counting all the different configurations we'll have about 8 tracks (that could possibly host and event on the same weekend) within 5 hours, possibly 9 if Beaverun ever gets around to building its second course.

Road racing is not Nascar, comparing the two is laughable. Locals simply do not matter.
As has already been pointed out, there are multiple large markets within a 2 hour drive. A 2 hour drive is NOTHING for a road course. A 4 hour drive is reasonable, and even 8 hour trip is relatively common. DC is close. Hamtpon Roads/VA Beach/Tidewater is close, and yes even Philly and Raliegh are considered close. It really doesnt matter if you dont think its close, the people that race, and go to these tracks make the trip.
Ive taken the time to explain this to you twice, If you want to stay stubborn and clueless, thats your choice but Im not going to waste my time on it any longer.

Last time I was at Infineon, we went up to Petaluma to visit the TRG shop. The owner also owns Adobe Road Winery...and has put a wine tasting room in their shop. Very nice...

Whoa the guy who owns TRG also owns that Lambo GT1 program? Whatever happened to it anyway, decided it would be too expensive to run?
As for the winery at the racetrack, think of it this way...it'll give your girlfriend/wife one more reason to come to the track with you.
