The way I saw it, if I had to brake more than I normally would in every single turn to avoid hitting the guy in front of me, I deserved a blue flag. I bet I seriously could have cut a whole second off of some of my lap times if I didn't have anyone in front of me.
As far as passing went on that track, yeah it was pretty much impossible unless the guy in front of you spun out or wasn't purposely boxing you out. I'd try to swing out wider on some turns to get around a guy, but then he'd cut you off at the inside of the next turn. The "wedge" shape of those things fuckin sucks too, it really seemed to prevent you from making inside passes during the few opportunities you had to do it.
I think you're right, I needed something faster and on a larger/more realistic scale.

Well the speed differential isnt enough for the guy working start finish to see it and throw a flag - they arent monitoring the whole track
Passing in identical vehicles is very hard - you have to be patient and set up the pass. Maybe a slight nudge (not punt!) on the other kart or backing off a bit to make a run on them leading onto a straight - if you ride their bumper you cant get out of the corner any faster than they do - so there's no chance to pass. You wont have AWD Turbo
However you also dont want to get too far back to capitalize on any mistakes they make. Backing off can be just 1 kart length or less - just enough to get some speed on them on corner exit.Quote:I think you're right, I needed something faster and on a larger/more realistic scale.

I can pass pretty much anywhere on that track, you just have to know how to do it. This comes from experience in the kart though so for someone who's rarely in one it's perfectly understandable to have that issue. You just need more seat time to better understand it.

Nope, it's to prevent you from sticking your nose where it doesn't belong, meaning you can't complete the pass in time. There's many times people will stick their nose in on someone in a turn thinking they can make the pass, but they can't and it causes an issue. The wedge shape of the karts allow you to find this out much sooner than you would in a typical box shape.

What it all boils down to is that karting is really there for honing your driving skills and competing with people on a level playing field (or as level as we can make it), not about how fast you can go.

i remember the experience we had down at rishmond at g-force. If i weren't so tail-happy to have a rwd vehicle in my possession and drifting around every corner scotty and i would've dominated that race. GO TEAM SH-ART!
we placed 3rd behind huntor and boobies and mike?..i don't remember, it wasn't by much.

IMO Drifting is to Racing as Synchronized Swimming is Swimming.
Don't get me wrong, speed is always a factor in any form of racing. When you're in a kart that's built exactly the same as the 8 other karts out there with you it becomes more about how well you drive not how fast you drive.

i think weight's also a huge factor. power/weight ratio, plus all that extra force on the tires means less grip....or maybe i just suck, lol. I can't do well, but i need practice, only been karting twice and once was with you :-p, where you owned me.

i hate being on the heavy side in this club... nowhere else in the world is 185 considered heavy... argh.
i don't particularly suck at driving karts, but when boobies and i exit a corner at the same speed and he just walks me on the straight it is an obvious weight thing.

Borg (edit: Thomas)? he was fast, if we're thinking of the same guy. i could be halfway down the back straight chicanes and if i looked over and saw him entering the beginning of teh same section i'd move over by the end because he had already caught me, ha! i had some good battles with Mikey too.
i had such a good time at that karting get together. i just wish i was around that area enough to take advantage of the superkart qualification i got.

yes indeed, superkarts are awesome...i got out to G-Force a couple of times over the summer and had a blast in them, they really are a lot faster :twisted:
