Two tents = hotness = shade for the strippers.

Update on the lot situation:

I was finally able to get in touch with Matt from parking services today bc of the weather and the weekend. He understands our urgency for determining the lot and will look again this coming saturday at Lot A3 (convo lot furthest from convo building) and C4 (Hillside). He is leaning towards A3 because it shouldn't have a great deal of traffic on a Saturday. Both lots are located on main campus roads and are within walking distance of dorms.

- .RJ - 01-27-2004

I think the C4 lot is a much better choice.

- ScottyB - 01-27-2004

what .RJ said. hillside isnt nearly as out of the way as convo

- Hunter - 01-27-2004

yea the convo lot will get virtually no foot traffic. I like the lot we were in last year, it wasnt the greatest place but it helped us get pretty good foot traffic at the event, plus its very visible from that part of campus.

And if i was on campus and i wasnt involved in our club and I was hungover on a saturday or sunday morning, walking to the convo lot would not be super high on my agenda.

- Mike - 01-27-2004

I think last year's lot sucked hard. C4 or bust!

- KPWSerpiente - 01-28-2004

With so many hits coming to the webpage, why isn't there a link to information about the meet on the homepage? That and advertising through the papers will probably help bring in some good numbers.

I've never lived on campus so I don't know anything about which parking lot to pick, but I agree a high traffic area would also be very valuable in getting people to see what's going on.

We haven't made an official announcement because nothing is concrete as of yet.

- KPWSerpiente - 01-28-2004

True, but I would think that you could at least let people know plans for one is in the works and that they should check back because all the information will be available soon.

We could keep a current update of the car show information to let people know whats going on, but then again it shouldnt be too long till we can get a date and spot and we can post the final info.

- Chris - 01-28-2004

Exactly. Thats what this post if for now and more registration info and a link specifically for the show will be up asap.

- Chris - 02-02-2004

It is now official! We have lot C4 near Hillside and McGraw Long Dorms for April 17th 2004. I know it took some time, but parking services and events and conf. have been discussing the issue. We will have at least 200 spaces in the lot and this section will be announced once parking sevices inspects the lot on a Saturday. Ticketing will not occur in this lot for out of town guests and the rain date of the 24th is tentative bc of another event. There has not been another parking request for the 24th, so we still have a good chance for this if needed.

Now the advertising campaign begins: SPREAD THE WORD TO PEOPLE YOU KNOW!

This means anyone SLIGHTLY INTERESTED in cars. If you run across someone with a badass car, a race addict, or even someone rockin the altezzas- let them know.

I would also like those of you who are members of all the car forums to advertise on the site, but CONTACT ME FIRST so I can give you the details and other information. I would also like to know where everyone advertises (on the web) so I can keep track and not duplicate efforts. Anyone willing to make a small but eye catching flier for cars and a full size ad for displaying around campus/HBurg- please let me know.

- G.Irish - 02-02-2004

That's fantastic news! Great job Chris *pat on back, gives a beer*

- Dave - 02-03-2004

awesome Chris, great job! Now people, lets make this a huge success and set a precedent. If we can show clubs and orgs the difference in attendance/success between a shitty lot and this one, I imagine they will have a harder time telling us no from now on. I'm already spreadin the word...

- Chris - 02-03-2004

ditto...

Oh Dave, I like the new liscense plate: debt jet (i think)

- Dave - 02-03-2004

heh, me too. JMUROX was getting old and this is a bit more fitting too Tongue
Now if only I can get rid of the peice and get myself out of debt, heh.

I forgot to mention 2 things:

At student org. night I spoke with the V. Pres. of the break dance club (Feersty's roommate) and as of now they can perform at the show. I emailed the info to him so they can plan ahead. They have their own floor and will give us a CD for the DJ to play. Their performance usually last about 15 min, so we'll advertise with their name on the fliers and the time of performance (1:30 or 2pm).

Lorena's roommate Julie is in the bike club and is a friend of mine. They are having a meeting Wed. night and she'll announce our request for them to bring and show their bikes.

Both these groups will bring new faces and excitement to the show

- Chris - 02-10-2004

break dance club has agreed to perform at the show! It will be one show of around 15-20 min at a given time, prob later in the afternoon.

- Chris - 02-17-2004

Emailed Madison Motorcycle Club today, and they are willing to bring their bikes out and enter in the show! Their president, Rob Lam, is going to get people from BlueRidge PowerSports to set up a display, possibly donate prizes, and ask them to do the judging for the bikes. He is also going to put some fliers up in their shop once I get him the fliers.

In other car show news, things are moving along with the fliers and registration. I also have an email to a friend's dad to bring his Shelby Series 1. More to come...
