:!: Big Grin :!:

So I'm going to Richmond tommorrow to *finally* get this shit taken care of. Safelite hasn't been of any help, neither has Brown Subaru here in Charlottesville.

One of the grid workers from this past weekend had a connection at Glass America in Fredericksburg - they hooked me up with the Richmond store, and the glass is in-stock, ready to go. Less than half the price that Safelite and 89glass quoted me 8) Of course, its surely not OEM glass, but these WRX windshields don't exactly have a great rep anyway...

So true. Almost as thin as the stock paint!

so i just checked out 89glass. they will pay me $50 after my deductible so i'd be out $50. any reason i shouldn't rock this?

As long as they actually have it ready to go, rock on.

$285 for a windshield for a Daytona... good price but I'll just live with the crack. I think the pistons might be a bit more important at this point.

This is a little off topic (well a lot)...but a friend of mine had her windshield replaced a few months ago, and about two weeks ago she came back to a vertical crack literally straight down her windshield (from her rearview mirror to the windshield wipers). This happened while her car was parked in the parking lot and she was at class. Theres no way someone could have finely put this crack in there, so is it safe to assume its in some way the shops fault who put it in? You just dont hear about windshield's cracking randomly while a car is parked everyday (or atleast I dont anyway).

Well I just ordered a new windshield through 89glass, their installing it thursday. It was only $285, same price as the Daytona, BOOYAH! Hopefully this goes well.

89glass was not approved under my policy so i went with another local shop for my $100 deductible.

- Hunter - 03-01-2006

my deductible was $500, so this was the best choice i found. In harrisonburg they actually go through dominion auto glass.

Called Windshield City in Winchester about the Daytona windshield and they said they could have in installed for under $300!!! 89 wanted $375 just for the glass if I remember right.

fucking rocks! on my way to work, a big rock bounced up and hit my front windshield just above my driver's side wiper. it spread down to the bottom of the windshield, and up a little bit. its still not in my way but i doubt its patchable and there's no way it'll pass inspection even though i have 10 months until mine expires. fuck...

This happen in the Subaru?

Sad yeah...

Sorry to hear that. There is always been talk about the Impreza glass just being way too thin. Numerous people have had problems with minor rock chips that continued to spread. I keep thinking my glass is gonna just pop out everytime I go into my driveway at an angle with the sound it makes.

- Ryan T - 08-30-2006

Put some super glue in the crack for the time being and it should stop the spreading, at least that always worked for me.

- Maengelito - 08-30-2006

yeah, actually on my way to road atlanta, a rock hit my windshield on the highway. i pulled off on the next exit to look for an auto parts store but couldnt find one, so i thought maybe the walmart had glass sealer. they didnt, but loctite makes glass glue, so i picked up some of that. thats what i used on the impact site, but its still kinda big, so i hope it doesnt spread more. my insurance covers glass w/ a $50 deductible, but i wonder if its worth it. i dont want them to jack up my rates
