I was disappointed that I couldn't go on the drive because I was helping my friend move into his new apartment, but it definitely a blessing in disguise.

What follows is SHO - The Car from Hell (Ch. 563)

My car's low coolant light came on about 20 miles away from my house - I didn't think anything of it because my lower radiator hose isn't quite tight enough on the radiator side and it drips a little bit. I figured the reservoir tank was running a little low, and the car's temp was fine so I wasn't worried.

Got off at my exit, temp never moving (and I was watching it like a hawk.) About 2 miles from my house, the temp gauge started rising, I let it get a little about half way up before I shut the engine off. I coasted for a about 3/4 of a mile and pulled into a redneck bar. When the car stopped, steam stated pouring out from under the hood - SHIT. Opened the hood and there is antifreeze everywhere. It was getting dark and I couldn't find the leak so I filled the car up with water and limped the rest of the way home. Found out today that there was a centimeter long tear in a 3in piece of coolant hose on the lower front side of my engine. Fixed now, but I'm glad this didn't happen while tearing up 33.

wow Adam, glad you found that. 33 is not a fun place to repair your car, ha.

good drive everyone! i'm really glad the rain was only at the base of the mountain, and it was awesome that there were no trucks or anything.

it was good to see a few new faces and everyone had a safe time.

I liked the WV ice cream run idea! Kinda like our own mini gumball... within the speed limits of course!

- Sijray21 - 04-02-2005

good thing the rain hit us late

we usually get 2 or 3 cruises in per semester. i'm sure we'll have time for one more before the semester's over.

and yeah...i'm on my POS stock 195/65 all seasons, and they were doing great (especially in that downpour) right up until the road started turning.... Confusedhock:

definitely fun. nice to meet the MM crew. i haven't driven the truck that hard in a long time. she really surprised me with what she did up/down the mountain. i would have never expected to be able to hang as much as i did. i figured i should have been waaay in the back going "where'd they go?!?!?" it's a strange feeling when you're running up a mountain like that with two WRX's behind you.

sorry if i held you up!!

i'm down for next time and will try and make some meetings. i have new found respect for the truck! thanks for letting me tag along.

i didn't take much, but here's mine.

ermm... i'd hate to be a party pooper, but from the comments following these past few "scenic" drives i think y'all need to might need to consider turning it down a notch. remember, if anything happens we can pretty much kiss the club goodbye. i trust y'all know know this, but if not this is just a reminder Smile that is all, back to your regularly scheduled chit-chat.

- Rex4life - 04-02-2005

awesome drive. i am glad the rain held off. and my apologies for anyone that had to ride behind the cat-less wonder Big Grin

every drive, the officers get better at pacing the group, and the people participating continually get a better understanding of what pace we intend to drive at.

the drive today was just about ideal. we stayed as a tight group, always waited up for people, and most importantly, kept our speeds reasonable. everyone drove well within their limits IMO (and i know this because i was scattered in different points in the group throughout the trip), and made very safe, reasonable passes.

i admit that i broke the speed limit at times, but in the few cases that i did it was for a short time and in a controlled manner. remember, holding 55mph on that road is pretty difficult.

that is all 8)

Some people might get perturbed by you saying this, watch out.

I'd rather some ppl get upset than someone get hurt.

i agree. but like i said in my earlier post, we kept it under control.

edit: come to think about it....we actually went far slower in some places than was probably safe, haha. we were trying to wait up for people, and inadvertantly created a few traffic jams on 33 in the mountains.
