Chris Wrote:Chad, I know you said to re-tighten all the bolts after its first use, but any other suggestions as far as driving with it or general use??

Yea, don't drive like a little bitch just because you are pulling a 4' trailer, it will track like a dream Smile. Haha, nah, other than just keeping an eye on the bolts and verify the lights work each time before use and repacking the wheel bearings each year that's all. They are pretty maintaince free. I do suggest you get a larger box, the one I have was from Home Depot for $40. It will hold a lot more gear than a bunch of smaller ones and you can bolt it to the trailer and use the straps for something else.

chris, any idea of the weight?

- white_2kgt - 01-04-2005

Shipping weight is 120lbs.

yeah the trailer itself isn't very heavy. As I mentioned the tongue weight on the hitch is 100lbs, and I believe the trailer is rated at a max of 1080- but it won't ever see that much weight.

good call on the box chad, but I've got several boxes and a club box that have to be on there. The other prob is I have to store it in my basement which means turning it on its side to fit through the basement door- a box on there would make that hard.

Chad, did you get a perm. license plate? That was riduculous- $88 in registration fees and taxes plus 10 for the personalized plate. I guess its better than paying each year though.

chad, i mean only the hitch part... not the trailer included. i'm assuming 120lbs was for both? i'm concerned about the extra weiht while on track Smile

mike, who can easily tell the difference between a full tank and nearly empty tank between stoplights.

That's teh draw tite model for the hatch- looks like 12.5 lbs. The Rigid model I used is a lot less weight than the draw tite. I think the draw tite model would be stronger but you really don't need much if its just a small tailer.

Rigid:

oh, my hitch was like 10-15lbs, all in the rear, low, just where I needed it. of course it is coming off the second I get a truck Smile.

P00pra pulling a trailer, teh world has come to an end.

- Dave - 01-06-2005

seen an M3 do it, why can't the poopra do it. Not to mention that the supra won't see track duty for a while; my comment was directed more toward trying to make one for the the 240

today was the first test drive with the trailer. Seems to be great. I bought a locking hitch pin so it can't be stolen.

I'm an idiot though, I was backing up in a straight line and apparently the trailer was a little to one side and while I was backing up I hit something (which ended up being the trailer turned sideways). D'oh!! it broke a side light on the trailer and scratched my bumber... POS! oh well, I replaced the light and will deal with the scratch.

Not really that funny, backing up with a trailer is hard as hell (you have to turn the wheel in the opposite direction you normally would while backing up, which is much easier in theory then it is in real life...) My GL had a hitch put on in a while back, and driving with a trailer on it is no fun at all (especially when it is 800lbs over what the car is supposed to tow).
