haha, i've got this setup going

1 set winter Bridgestone Bizzak LM-22's, they work incredible in the snow. Only used for late dec through mid march in the h-burg area. HIGHLY recommended if you plan on driving in a lot of snow or about 1 full month of the year.

1 set all-season for mileage/multipurpose/cheap use. Kumho ASX's, they're cheap and they get the job done.

1 set track/auto-x. Falken Azenis

Granted it cost me a lot to get all of these but not having to worry about buying new tires for a while is nice. I've put about 20k miles on my all-seasons, my winter's are probably good for another 3 years, had them for 2 so 5 years is about the limit anyway, and the Falkens will be good for about 4-5 maybe 6 more events.

Storage is a bitch though, i have an Azenis table in the living room, works well Wink

i say just get a good set of performance tires and a set of snow tires (if it snows a lot). i might sell my snow set next year since i'm goign to be living in Northern va

but high performance all-season...not worth it imo....too expensive, just stick out the snow with the performance tires or don't drive until the roads are plowed

and for the car cover, if driven all the time, just wash it every three weeks or so, you'll be fine.

guns are sweet, i say this as i hold my replica USP airsoft gun and shoot stuff in the kitchen Big Grin

i will definitely own firearms after Jen and i are married and settle down for a while. she already has her liscense and target shoots on a regular basis so i have to catch up to her!

the only shooting experience i ever had was when a buddy of mine let me and another friend Ryan shoot his glock 23 one day last winter. man that gun was so much fun to shoot!

go with the AR-15, you'll like it much better in my opinion, its worth the extra money....


i just got a Remington Model 710 bolt action 30-06 (black on black) Big Grin for my 20th B-day last month, sadly i have only shot it a couple of times, but i love it and can't wait to get it into the woods and see what it really can do

i will vouch for Jay on these tires. they are phenomenal.

now about that ground clearance.....here comes mr. plow a.k.a the slammed Si!


my setup is currently very high performance tires on +2 sized rims for spring/summer/fall (mostly horsing around, and autocrossing). my stock wheels and tires will be kept for winter duty or very long road trips (300+ miles).

one thing to keep in mind....thinner all seasons will handle rain/snow much better than wide ones, because they can "cut" through the water or snow to the pavement below. wider tires "float" on the surface. in deep water or slush my stock 195 width tires inspire alot of confidence. on snow they are marginal, but i can get by with them, which is perfectly fine for what they are designed to do.

I finally took it out today and blazed a trail... At our cabin on the "short range" (a tree with a target on it like, 50ft from the deck) it blew a hole through a 7in think tree. On the long range (75yrds) it messed some soda bottles up hard-core. I only had 20rnds, I'm waiting on my 500rnd box Smile Oh, neat note, we found a .45 stuck in a tree...not mis-shapen at all.
