Oh yeah - you're going to need this site for shit like that console lid. http://www.mikesmontes.com/Console-Parts_c_228.html

God Bless You, sir.

Dad and I started a list last night. First thing is going  to be aligning this hood and putting on a hoodspring so it doesn't look so janky. Then we'll be disassembling the interior, trying to get the headliner out and get the carpets and seats shampooed.

Also on the list, the car has no heat, the heater core was disconnected when the engine was swapped...I may just put in a NEW heater core, as the old one if original is pretty guaranteed to leak, and a new one is only 30 doll hairs.

I’m late to the party here but love this. More please.

So a guy has gotten his AntiQ plates and he's been hooning around scaring dogs and waking up babies all over the valley.

I've probably put more miles on it in two weeks than the previous two years combined. So it comes as no surprise that some shit has done broke.

I couldn't get it started yesterday and thought maybe it was vapor lock, and my choke had been sticking and wouldn't you know that the reason it's been so hard to start is because the front bowl was draining right out the front accelerator pump.

So she's scheduled for carb surgery, boys.

Bet your sweet ass I'm gonna do a 'lectric choke and get rid of these fire hazard fuel lines too.

i haven't legit laughed out loud at my monitor in a good while.

a guy can amp up a project thread with the right graphical designification. mind botteling!

I shouldn't have to tell y'all, but don't route fuel lines (even mechanical pump, low pressure ones) through your gd alternator.

Anyway, carb's off. Four bolts, two clips, two hoses, and my whole fuel delivery system is ready to be cleaned.

Engine looks neat though.

CARBAMAPHOOOOOONE

I honestly think they're black magic. I don't understand how they work, I don't think anyone actually REALLY understands, some wizards in a volcano at Holley do their incantations on a chunk of aluminum and then BAM: Carburettor.

I mean, we all understand fuel injection right? Each cylinder has a squirter, a computer tells the squirter how much to squirt and when. DONE. Easy.

But a carb...jets and precision machined channels and 18th century swiss mathematicians all conspire with air to whisper to a puddle of fuel "Yeah baby of course I love you of course I'll respect you in the morning" and then they bang.

I mean, ultimately, I should have been pissed but this is what projects are all about right? Learning how not to fuck up a $700 piece of carefully cast aluminum so your car makes brum brum noises again. Much like everything else in our society now, you don't actually have to understand how it works to MAKE it work, right?

I guess we'll find out.

Anyway, here's the culprit:

Its just a metered fuel leak

RE: Project 442 - JPolen01 - 07-11-2019

A+ video title

Well. There she is. I hope a guy can get her back together correctly.

RE: Project 442 - Deceus - 07-12-2019

Well if you can't, you can always just get a Sniper and call it a day.

I started drinking when this was together and I noticed that my secondary throttle bodies aren't fully nopen at WOT so I gotta look into that.

RE: Project 442 - CaptainHenreh - 08-13-2019

IT LIVES.

No leaks. Seems to run fine. There's no vacuum advance on the timing which is...wrong, but I didn't do it it came that way. I also bought the 'lectric choke, but haven't installed it yet.

So next on the list is a new distributor, new plugs and wires, oil change, and timing job.

but it moves under its own power so I am much excite.

RE: Project 442 - Tyler.M - 07-28-2020

When do I get to see this?

I've been growing a mullet and 'stache since you bought it, hoping I was worthy enough to drive it one day.

I'mma be honest. I had a beautiful baby girl, and got a new job, and I haven't done much at all.

But there are...things happening. I'll have an update before too long.
