Also moster energy beat out Budweiser? Bring back Winston, NASCAR is beer and cigarettes.

Dreaming of caged gt500s, hellcats, zl1s gunning for each other around the oval. That would be amazing...

Go because free and mostly what Scotty said about hardware.

I went to Talladega a couple years ago in an RV, infield, a few slots back from turn 3. Don't expect anywhere close to the pit / garage access you get at an IMSA race. We were there the whole weekend and it was pretty annoying how little track action there actually is. At IMSA, track is alive from 8AM to 7PM.

I think you'll enjoy the experience, but won't be hooked.

Crash celebration, check! (I think this was JR's (#88) last talladega race so also celebrating that he wasn't involved)

Down by the fence for what really are some pretty thunderous restarts

I also think every car person should go to at least one NHRA event too. The starting line is insane, the speed is insane, and watching them thrash through an engine rebuild between runs is pretty impressive. Pit / paddock access is more like IMSA too.

Absolutely go to the race, suite tickets are the shit. May have changed since but my dad was big in the trackside merchandise sales when I was younger and the suites we were always in had free food/drinks. Definitely lack of camo in those, it was businessmen types. Takes away from the experience being in a box but at least you don’t lose your hearing and you can see the entire track.

Will agree with the local racing being professional cheating but it’s almost worth it for the people watching alone, and if you have someone you know personally to cheer for it’s great.

Also what other sporting event encourages you to bring your own cooler?

On a related note: I’m cleaning dads storage building out this summer and he has a ton of 90’s early 2000’s NASCAR memorabilia, mostly Kodak stuff. if anyone’s interested it’s all going on eBay but y’all can get what ya want before it goes up

Definitely go, especially if it's free. I went to Pocono last year and it was pretty fun. There is so much more than just turning left... I could go on and on about it, but I won't. I just love motorsports competition in general, but I've been watching NASCAR almost all of my life. It hasn't really bored me out, even with some of the ridiculous things they have changed. It is still racing, and it's hard racing.

What should I expect with the non stop rain likely to continue all day? Not even a start to the race?

TIL Nascar is a bunch of pussies. Race should have been postponed this morning. Instead they dried the track twice and did 3 pace laps before they came back in. Probably in the name of beer sales.

Pretty underwhelmed by the facility. Is Dover an older/outdated track? They don't even have lights so they can't race at night. The suite was a great view of the entire oval and we were right at the start/finish so it would have been pretty cool to at least see a few laps.

Whatever I got a free lunch, drank free beer, and rubbed elbows with one of our GMs about a possible territory opening so at least there's that.

Not sure if many Nascar tracks have lights sufficient for night races.
