There's always been loose rumors that some dealers will give you full warranty coverage no matter what goes wrong, but I have never been able to get a dealership to tell me straight to my face "yes, tune your car and we'll take care of you if anything happens."
Now all of a sudden they're offering APR "Plus" which I think you have to have installed when you buy the car new, and APR replaces the VW warranty with their own bumper to bumper 60k/5year warranty, BUT, the tune only makes 260hp. That makes the full Stage 1 sketchy as fuck in my mind. :dunno:

I don't know, Valley VW in Staunton is an APR dealer and last I checked would perform ecu flashes and fully cover the car still with the factory warranty. That was a couple of years ago though, so maybe it's changed now that apr has the + plan
Either way, it's probably a bit far to drive for a tune.

honestly at 260hp you're getting a hell of a ride anyway...i remember the fuss the old turbo Cobalt SS made when it came out with 260hp, and that car was doing 60 in like 5.5 seconds and topped out at like 160 at roughly the same weight. that's fast as shit for a FWD DD.

My brother had a VW/APR dealer do his and they serviced it fine. Granted it was the previous gen GTI, but it was stage 2. One thing i will say though, new wider wheels and tires were pretty much necessary if you wanted to do anything past like 50-60% throttle from a standstill.

Yeah my MKV chassis couldn't handle the torque from the Revo Stage 1. It was funny to stand on it in 1st and 2nd and let it squeal but it did get irritating having to mitigate wheel slip/traction control intervention until you got to 3rd gear. The MK7 handles about the same amount of power as that Revo tune made well, but if you went and cranked the torque up to the upper-300s, I'd imagine you'd run into similar issues (especially on my non-diffed one). It creates a slippery slope of adding better wheels, tires, mounts, etc just to put down the power, when the stock car is already pretty darn quick and well balanced.

I've been home sick for a few days, so I'd still only driven it about 30 miles. I finally got a chance to stretch its legs today, when showing an MM member to-be-named around my 'hood. I don't know that I'll get a chance to use all the horsepowerz on a regular basis, but it's definitely quick and the DSG is smoother than I thought it would be. The best thing about it, I think, is the ride. It might be because I'm coming from the stiff Clubman, but it's so much smoother and more firmly planted than that thing. One of these days, I'll actually take it on a highway and into the mountains.

CUVs are surprisingly terrible at housing car seats. Not that I'd ever own one, but we at least tried...

Yeah, it was impossible to fit a rear facing car seat and have two adults in the front without eating dashboard. The 328 can easily fit three adults and a car seat, so I really don't get xUVs I suspect the GTI will fit a car seat, but no one will be able to use the passenger seat.
