My vote is for "anything other than NoVA-yuppie-silver"
Mike D should put this in a suggestion box for 2015 Audi color choices

I'm excited you got another BMW cause BMW .... But at the same time bummed you got a BMW. It would have been cool if it was a mustang/corvette/porsche/just something else, but oh well. I'm gonna get on my computer and start giving livery options hehe

Re: Spec E46 Built - D_Eclipse9916 - 11-26-2014

Has anyone done a "livery competition" type thing on the open webz??? I was thinking of putting up a $100 or $150 competition or something for the best livery. Sound stupid or do you think I would get actually halfway decent suggestions? I hate the silver as well, I think it is the reason I am "meh" on the ls1/m3s looks.

I am excited as the competition looks good and fierce as more builds are announced.

Re: Spec E46 Built - Sully - 11-26-2014

Yea no primer grey raail please. Maybe something a little more interesting this time? If raail is capable of cool colors like dip is now. Wink

DJ, no experience here (i've done vehicle mockups but not livery specifically) but for 150 you'll probably get some neat ideas but don't expect the world. likely a lot of response from college aged guys. i would recommend you set some ground rules on the perspectives you want and if you have an idea of how many/which colors you want included. Ensure they know all artwork should be built in vector format so your vinyl guy can scale it (i.e. don't build a photoshop rendering that is beautiful as a JPEG image but essentially would have to be rebuilt in another program to translate to a vinyl cutter).

let me know if I can help.

Re: Spec E46 Built - D_Eclipse9916 - 12-08-2014

Been cleaning up stuff on the previous race car and gets picked up Saturday. In the meantime, ordering most of the parts I need over black friday sales to take advantage of any savings.

I also started pulling stuff off the SpecE46 in preparation of sale/installation of Spec Parts. I caught this picture walking the dogs and it looked so sad behind doors.

Got started... The E46 is actually a pretty different setup in a lot of ways. So to keep things organized I always use baggies with blue painters tape and marker on the tape. Marker directly on the bags usually wears off or smears.

I also went inspecting and found lots of oil leaks/cleanup items. I had not planned on originally pulling the motor, but it is just going to end up easier pulling it all apart.

I went to work pulling apart this perfectly working race car. oy. I now remember why I do all my own work. But I got all of the stuff out and actually close to getting most of it sold.
-3.64 OSGiken (sold)
-RRT "custom exhaust"
-Turner Motorsports Power Pullies (sold)
-Driveshaft
-UUC Evo 3 Short Shifter (Sold)
-aftermarket intake/intake box (sold)
-Ohlins Inverted coilover setup
-Active Autoworkes headers
-Radiator
-Water Pump (should have been a nice one, ended up being OEM, wtf)

Parts also started trickling in over the weekend.
-DiffsOnline Built 3.46 3-clutch Variable Ramp 30/90 REM polished gears LSD
-Tilton Single Disc 7.25-inch clutch/flywheel setup
-Head Adapter for Water Temp Sensor
-Achilles Motorsports Oil Pan Baffle
-Achilles Motorsports Upgraded Oil Pump Shaft/Sprocket
-Bimmerworld "SpecE46" Exhaust. Built by Magnaflow, this thing is actually really nice. It's pricey, but it doesn't hurt as bad when it is quality.

I also ordered a pretty ballin, not required piece. I admit this is definitely a "luxury" item, but after years of stock gauges/using an AIM Solo, and this piece JUST came out (And selling my diff/shifter/pulleys for more than I budgeted); I ordered an AIM MXL2. Replaces the dash/stock cluster, is built in data logger, aftermarket oil pressure/diff temperature/oil temperature/water temperature, brake sensor, steering sensor, tps, rpm etc. It does it all with built in warnings, shift lights, predictive laps, etc. Consider it my christmas gift to myself.

Since I was in the shopping mood, I also bought some items for the trailer. A couple of you know I bought a "new-to-me" trailer last month. A 36' Gooseneck with 24' Awning, diamond plate flooring, a/c, compressor, etc. So I bought an 8' tire rack, 2x 2-5gallon gas can holders, a toolbox for the trailer, and will be shortly ordering the cabinets/lockers to go in it. I also need to order new vinyl to get rid of the ford Wink

PRETTY COLORS!

Re: Spec E46 Built - ScottyB - 12-08-2014

some awesome swag DJ, looking forward to the installs

Re: Spec E46 Built - SlimKlim - 12-08-2014

How does the gear indicator work? Does the ECU know what gear the car is in or is there a doodad that goes on the shifter for the gauge like those gimmicky shift knobs that tell you the gear?

Re: Spec E46 Built - .RJ - 12-08-2014

Revs and Vehicle speed.

Re: Spec E46 Built - Senor_Taylor - 12-08-2014

So, is there a bed set up in the gooseneck of the trailer or is that storage?

Re: Spec E46 Built - D_Eclipse9916 - 12-08-2014

Bed and cabinets. Real bed is the reason we went gooseneck (aside from the obvious nicety of towing better)

Oh right, I'm dumb.

Re: Spec E46 Built - Senor_Taylor - 12-09-2014

Nice! Fifth wheel trailers are so easy to back up compared to pull behinds, imo. Sounds nice! I'm sure it'll be better than sleeping on the floor.

And no longer sleeping on an air mattress is going to be magical. It's quite the sight in my trailer with Jess/Me/2 dogs all on a queen air bed.
