2nd race slightly more interesting than the first. Fewer mechanicals so that was good. I really like that course. The first few corners make for some great racing.

Safe to say that this thread is a spoiler zone? If you haven't watched and plan to, don't click?

I thought the mid pack racing was better this week, but the frontrunners just kind of strung out so barring a failure it seems like the top 4 were pretty set by mid race. It looks like the Mercedes are just a step ahead of everyone else, will be interesting to see if red bull or ferrari can stay within striking distance until the european segment starts and everyone really brings it strong on updates.

And yea, I'd say this thread can be a spoiler zone.

Re: F1 Chatter (Spoilers abound) - Mike - 04-03-2014

Funny to see Hamilton win and it be such a big deal because he hasn't been for a long time; last time I cared about F1, he was brand new and wrecking shop.

Re: F1 Chatter (Spoilers abound) - Goodspeed - 04-06-2014

Bahrain GP, holy crap was that good. All the intra-team racing, Williams and Sahara Force India being awesome, Vettel getting the call to move over for Ricciardo (ha!), Maldonado on Guttierez (!). Bahrain put me to sleep in the past but this was one of the best races in ages.

Re: F1 Chatter (Spoilers abound) - Mike - 04-06-2014

Damnit. Had to google the schedule to know which race to download because I wasn't getting the right torrent hits when searching for the round... Google is clever enough to put the results right at top Tongue Will watch tonight.

Re: F1 Chatter (Spoilers abound) - Apoc - 04-06-2014

Definitely one of the best races I've seen in a long time. All the detractors can suck it.

Re: F1 Chatter (Spoilers abound) - Steve85 - 04-08-2014

Started off this year like every other, recorder set and watch when I can until I get disinterested after a few races. If this keeps up though I just might watch the whole season!

Even if Mercedes does continue to dominate, it will be fun to watch the likes of Ferrari and Red Bull try to catch up.

Re: F1 Chatter (Spoilers abound) - Mike - 04-12-2014

That race was pretty awesome. Hamilton is tearing some shit up. Is it normal for teammates to rub and race harder than anyone else out there? Seemed odd to me. Aaaand I really wouldn't mind this car: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nl2BP16OuvE

Absolutely. Here's what Hamilton had to say about Rosberg:

I read a good article about their history together, back to the late 90's in karting and early formula stuff, when they were actually "friends". F1 pretty much changes that for most people.

Also reference Vettel and Mark Webber from last year, pretty sure they downright hated each other. Also Massa had some friction with Ferrari last year playing second fiddle to Alonso, hence the ignoring of team orders to let Bottas by.

And perhaps most famously Senna vs. Prost.

Re: F1 Chatter (Spoilers abound) - Evan - 04-20-2014

Watched china gp. This shit is boring. Mercedes have such a dramatically better car its not the slightest bit interesting to watch.

Re: F1 Chatter (Spoilers abound) - Apoc - 04-20-2014

China was pretty boring. The last race was one of the best ever.

Re: F1 Chatter (Spoilers abound) - G.Irish - 04-20-2014

China is a crappy track for passing. The Moto GP races there were boring too

Looking forward to the Spanish GP, if only because I haven't seen it since they did the Valencia street circuit (I don't think I was a big fan of it) - can't remember if Catalunya is awesome or not.

Pretty good article on the heyday of the V10 era, since we were talking about sound - do yourself a favor and watch the vids of Barrichello and Schumi rocketing around. I wept.

Random, but my dad scored a mint auction guide recently at a used book store from the 2005 Sotheby's Ferrari auction in Maranello - that motor above (Schumi's Driver and Constructor Championship-winning V10) could be yours for $63,000 with "some internal parts missing". Greatest rich-guy coffee table stand ever.

Any interest in the first American F1 team in a long while? I still won't catch many full races but plan to follow their progress.
