I'm in, Julie.Elsea@ gmail dot com. I think a video would be great. I've never had Dan instruct me, but the always, without fail came into T & S once a weekend just to check on us. Ask us if we needed anything. He'd run and get us drinks if we needed him to. In this life, you will meet a lot of people. Some good, some bad, some exceptional. Dan isn't just a great guy, he's honest, fair, smart, and experienced. He's convinced that he can help people enjoy this sport as much as he does. I am proud to know him, I am proud to be a part of an organization that he's help make top notch, and I will be very sad by his passing. So tell me what you need from me and I'll try to help in every way possible.

I'm in for something. A video would be super-easy to put together -- those who want to say something, record it on your laptop's webcam and I can set up a Dropbox where the videos can be uploaded. I'm happy to throw everything through iMovie and make it look good. Keep it to 2 minutes.

Was gonna stay on the sidelines, but I though lt DJ's post was touching - funny how strangers can have such impact.
I enjoyed Dan's learnin' at my first HPDE last July and again on my wedding day before I had my first off track experience the same day I got hitched. Still have the VIR sticker he handed me on my helmet, and genuinely thought he seemed like a class act.

Alright, plan developed. That's some fast teamwork right there. Below is some text that you may share around. The Cobettos and Jon Felton are going to take care of distribution within NASA. Feel free to spread and share as far and wide as you can:
If you have gone through a NASA classroom session in the past 10+ years, you know Dan Unkefer. From his crisp communication to his experienced teaching, he has touched the lives of us all. We are all better drivers and better people for knowing him.
Dan is in advanced stages of stomach cancer, and is currently in self hospice.
As a tribute to Dan, we all have an opportunity to send him a short, 30 second video to thank him for his influence, share how his teachings saved you, recount a fond memory, or wish him the best.
If you would like to participate in this – and we hope you do – here’s the easy way to contribute:
1. Record a video – use your phone, your webcam, etc. Keep it light and fun.
2. Upload it to youtube and mark it as “unlisted.” (Don’t mark it as private)

I would offer my DSLR to shoot all the videos but I'm in Fredericksburg and just got my wisdom teeth out this morning. If it's by Wednesday I will make sure I send a video in when my cheeks go down and I can talk a little more coherent.

Very cool work being done here, I'm sure it'll brighten his day for sure. I never interacted with Dan much (I think he spoke at a DE class I took), but I do fondly remember several years ago, he'd have his gorgeous red NSX parked against the building near tech at Summit event after event and I'd always be checking it out. I saw him getting into it one time, obviously with somewhere he had to be going and I approached him to say "nice car" and he let me get behind the wheel, pop the engine cover, and take 15 or so minutes of his time just talking about the car. Definitely a rare character.
