Re: Joey's Totally Predictable DD - Ken - 03-26-2013 If you wait until they have those large VW meetings in MD they do it for much cheaper. that's what my brother did. How much cheaper? I guess I could tolerate a bunch of VW Bros for a deep enough discount. Maybe. Will they even let me in the show if I'm not on bags with some Mercedes wheels that don't fit? Thats what I did. I went to Waterfest last summer and paid $599 cash. In reality, you'll want to get the fully loaded ECU and thats 599. But if you get it done at Waterfest, or a comparable show during one of their sales, you dont pay tax, get free labor and its all done by APRs techs from their HQ in Alabama (if you go with APR). .RJ Wrote:GregF Wrote:SlimKlim Wrote:the only place the car feels a little slow is on the highway. His equally VW gf was rocking a VW/GTI shop shirt and lanyard.. You and Lauren better start updating your wardrobe BRAH.. Re: Joey's Totally Predictable DD - SlimKlim - 03-27-2013 V1GiLaNtE Wrote:SlimKlim Wrote:How much cheaper? I think this marketing campaign gave the car bad karma. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cv157ZIInUk EDIT: ScottyB Wrote:i always get a kick out of the "braap!" between full throttle upshifts when you play with the paddles. definitely recommended with the windows down. I really started listening for this after you said it, you can really hear it on the 2-3 shift. 8) I wonder what causes it? Its such a bizzare sound. I just found a post that listed all the Single/Dual Clutch shift times, and its says the DSG upshifts in 8 miliseconds. I guess its literally a little exhaust fart because it hits the next gear so quickly. :dunno: Re: Joey's Totally Predictable DD - davej - 03-27-2013 .RJ Wrote:APR K04 will take care of that  DO IT! +1 GregF Wrote:He was talking about passing on the highway... he said nothing about turning the grocery getter into a beast. -1 welcome to the VAG, i hear it's where all the cool kids hang out. Re: Joey's Totally Predictable DD - SlimKlim - 03-27-2013 GregF Wrote:davej Wrote:.RJ Wrote:APR K04 will take care of that  DO IT! Lol, if I had any intention of dropping $4k on this car or trying to make it fast, I would've just sold the E36 and picked up an Alpine White/Cinnamon E46 M3 6-speed and called it a day. I'm still primarily a BMW nerd after all. Still, I can't help but think of how awesome of an autocross/track car this little thing would make. Maybe if my salary happens to magically doubles in the next 3 years I'll buy a new DD, do an intake, intercooler, exhaust, stage II tune, dsg tune, real LSD, coilovers and a set of the lightest wheels I could find. Still not sure I see the point in a K04 though, 380-ft-lbs in a FWD car sounds terrifying. I made the tires squeal with 226 this morning, or whatever the TSI supposedly makes. Granted that's on a pretty shitty set of all seasons, but still. It's still kind of crazy to me that you can get technology like DSG in a couple year old VW - no disrespect. Only dual clutch I've been in was GT-R and it blew my mind.

Hopefully you're lucky with that thing. With 19k miles on the clock and my warranty just about to expire, it's already been in the shop for a total of about two weeks and at a cost of (guesstimate) $2-3k out of VW's pockets. Re: Joey's Totally Predictable DD - SlimKlim - 03-28-2013 BJ, I know, its insane. I found a post that compared all the shift times of a bunch of automated manuals. Supposedly the DSG shifts in 8ms, which is the same shift speed as a Veyron. The Enzo's single-clutch "only" does it in 60ms. Mike is the only issue you've had so far with the clutch? Shouldn't that kind of stuff be covered for another 40k miles? I hope this thing is good to me. I'm accepting that I might have to do the timing tensioner update or some other projects on it, and I've got the warranty on the trans which would be the most expensive thing to repair, so hopefully I'll be fine. Step 1: Remove front clip  Re: Joey's Totally Predictable DD - SlimKlim - 03-28-2013 Actually no! (Its just on the side of the motor wedged between the block and the strut tower...) Piece of cake:
