The 328i wagon would be the E91 body style and probably out of your price range (a decent MKV GTI is going to be a bit more than $10k too, for that matter) but an E46 325i wagon would be well within it. Those are pretty cool little cars, a lot of them were automatic xi's, which kinda sucks, but they still made a fair number of stickshift and RWD ones. I saw a pretty decent looking one on bimmerforums a few months ago that was a 325iT sport pack, 5spd, rwd with like 130k miles for $7k in really good shape.
Hm, I'll take a look around for those. So I guess it's really between: Subaru wagon, 325iT, and maybe some sort of tow vehicle if it can get good gas mileage. Another plus would be AWD so I don't have to worry about driving it out to West Virginia.

Can you PM me some info? I may take you up on that offer. I'm contemplating but if you get the gas mileage you were saying then that's not too bad. Other than that, thoughts on hatchback fun daily's? Besides a WRX wagon or 325iT wagon?

IMO (sorry if this comes off judgemental, it's not intended but I just don't have time to word it all nice-like) no college kid needs a tow vehicle unless the parental units are funding the habit. The feeding costs vs. added benefit simply aren't there.
Sounds like you're pretty bent on selling the WRX, so do that. Buy something fun that you don't mind taking to the autoX/track (like the E30) and enjoy it, but don't tow it - drive it there. Take the leftover money and either buy something stupid cheap (leaves funds for improving the track car) or get a fun DD.
FWIW for most of the time I was in college I had two cars. A nice DD that I loved (93 Supra) and a variety of beaters/track toys/projects (91 supra, 91 240sx, DSMs, SE-Rs). The only regret I have is that I was a little too protective of the Supra and I had too much money tied up in it. If I had sold it at the peak price, I would have made a big profit (I still essentially did, but that's another story) and could have enjoyed the track stuff more. I bought a truck after I got out of college and had a dedicated track car and have no regret about that decision to wait.

Find a car you think is affordable and fun, drive the piss out of it and don't overextend yourself (we all know that isn't fun).

Okay, then I believe this is going to be the plan.
Forester for 4k or so. Put 1 or 2 in bank for repairs/ bullshitting. Put 4-5k in a CD or some mutual fund of choice. And of course buy the E30 to dick around at the track in.

Having a little money socked away to help you transition to the "real world" after graduation is a big help. I had a decent amount of cash, and I sold the FZR, and still spent the first few months essentially paycheck to paycheck. All the deposits, rent, utilities, food and other crap adds up really quickly. A Scooby and a track E30 is a pretty awesome stable anyway.

Probably. I have it on Nasioc for 12.5 to dick around. But I do expect 10,000 and I think that's reasonable. It is only at 75,000 miles and I'm including a ton of parts (on and off the car).

better off parting out the aftermarkets if you still have the stock pieces. Unless you can source them through trades + cash.

I don't have all the parts. I suppose I could start returning it to stock but then I'd have to take off the exhaust, up and down pipe and that would SUCK. I'm sure I could get someone to do it for me as part of the "trade".
