Seriously this facelift is beyond fugly. The overdone, me too LED headlamps, atrocious front fascia, gaudy wheels. Ugh. Jeep has a rich heritage with building solid performing and good looking vehicles, I just don't get this redesign at all.

Re: 2013 Detroit Auto Show - G.Irish - 01-14-2013

I'm disappointed BMW didn't show the new M3 but I guess they'll wait to show it off in Europe. Seems like there won't be any new NSX details, just an updated concept. Supposedly it will be a twin turbo but they're not ready to talk about that yet apparently.

A photoshop of what the C7R might look like....mmmph

Re: 2013 Detroit Auto Show - BFisch06 - 01-15-2013

I'm fairly happy with the new Corvette. Glad to see so much cross over from the Corvette Racing program (again). The C6's exposed headlights drummed up calls of "blasphemy" and "kill it with fire", etc when it came out, but the Racing program drove the development team to the (inevitable) conclusion "yup, exposed headlights DO make it faster! Just like the computer models said!". I agree the vents are "all over the place" but again, at least they're using the CR program to influence the standard car - more than you can say for NASCAR. The front does look Viper-ish and the interior reeks of GTR-ness, but at least they used the right cars to rip from, right? I mean, how pi$$ed would everyone be if they used design elements from the Hyundai Elantra? The back, while disappointing to me personally, has "let's push a corporate Chevrolet image" written all over it, and if I know Harlan and Tadge they opposed it and were simply over-ruled. Who knows what else "upper management" wanted to see that didn't make it to production - it could have been a lot worse. The interior isn't my cup of tea, but the C6 interior wasn't either. It'll grow on me - the rear end already has.

Here are some pictures to illustrate my point about the technology crossover from Track to Production:

Oh, and a fun comparison of the new 7-speeds (base vs. Z51):

....... I cringed when I saw the spy photos months ago.....looks terrible. Chrysler headlights, Audi tails, Audi shifter, blah blah blah I don't know why they chose to dig into the trash can of "shitty designs we came up with when designing the latest WK Cherokee" and chose to take that piece of paper from the dead and bring it to life.

WTF is Jeep thinking.

Re: 2013 Detroit Auto Show - Evan - 01-16-2013

LOVE the new C7, very impressive car inside and out. Great looking design that builds on the already svelte and sexy C6. Makes the viper look like a crappy kit car.
Only quibble is that the rear end is a bit busy and overdesigned.

but aside from the c7, i thought this years nais was a gigantic dud. roughly zero other vehicles that are the slightest bit interesting

BUT WHAT ABOUT RS7?

[Image: Audi-RS7-side-detroit-auto-show.jpg&MaxW=630]

Rex's opinion: Anything that didn't have a "7" in it sucked.

Re: 2013 Detroit Auto Show - Evan - 01-16-2013

for me to really like a car I have to be able to see myself buying or at least enjoying driving the car.

If I were a dbag middle manager trying to look cool and flaunt my money in a luxobarge then Im sure Id want to stick my dick in all 4 of its rings.
But Im not, so I dont.

Re: 2013 Detroit Auto Show - FlaakCM - 01-16-2013

Personally, I think the A7s design is ugly. I cringe everytime I see one.

Re: 2013 Detroit Auto Show - Evan - 01-16-2013

the A5 is definitely the sweet spot for audi's design language. A7 a little big for it, A4 a little small for it. A7 is still pretty good looking though.

Im a little surprised there was zilch in the way of BRZ/FR-S competitor concept cars. Earlier in the year it seemed like every automaker was rumored to be developing something to compete in that segment. And if theres not even a concept car now, there definitely wont be anything in production in 2014.

Re: 2013 Detroit Auto Show - WRXtranceformed - 01-17-2013

I have been a big Vette fan for a long time (I came really close to buying one last year) and I actually really don't like the new design. It's trying really hard to look like a Ferrari in the front and the back looks like a jacked up Camaro and an 80's car. I keep leaning more toward the Ford / GT500 platform as the next play car whenever that might be. After sitting in a bunch of Vettes, including the Z06, the interior is just such crap and plasticky everywhere. The leather is not really high quality (mine is already peeling off of the back of my seat). Especially for the price of a brand new one. That's just GM...my Cadillac interior looks nice but it's just because they covered a lot of the plastic junk with bits of leather. The new Fords are way nicer inside imo

I have heard vettes/caddys etc having those issues before. Dont understand, why not throw the leather they use in the Denali in the vettes?

Both my Denali and my Sierra 2500HD have leather interiors and are over 100k. MY denali has very very slight weathering on the driver's side bottom bolster from slidding in and out. My 2500HD has no wear.

Compare that to every E36 ever that has ripped bolsters/fading/wear on every interior part ever. My moms e46 interior peels.
