As a long time Caps fan, this feels pretty amazing.

i'm genuinely happy for you guys, you've been past due for a while now.

RE: How bout them Caps? - JPolen01 - 06-08-2018

All the feels for Ovi. If any player in sports history deserved a championship it was him. The amount of leadership he displayed throughout the playoffs this year was incredible. He gave them the kick start they needed and the supporting cast filled in strong. Lots of mistakes all around but when they needed big plays somebody always came through.

Now let's see when this parade is.

Big Grin Thot level 1000....I approve.

Full disclosure - I boarded the bandwagon and watched the only hockey I've ever watched in my life during these playoff games.  I've been missing out - the whole thing was a spectacle.  Congrats Caps!

do yourself a favor and go to a live game. its way smaller and more up-close of a venue than you think, the action is nonstop and the fans are usually as fun to watch as the players.

I also bandwagoned and started watching because some friends were interested and Elliot in the morning is always talking about it. Pretty entertaining but I think because it was so big and important. Idk that'll I'll actually become a hockey fan but it was cool watching them go for it and actually get it in what seemed like a pretty well fought game on both sides. (idk that it was, idk hockey but seemed intense back and forth after the first period)

If you get the JMU alumni emails, they host a Caps game once a season. I went in 2017. It was $80 for a ticket, caps/JMU t shirt, and all you can eat/drink in one of the lounges that was open to only JMU members (including beer) for the entire game. The amount of beer I drank alone covered the cost of the ticket. I'll try to remember to post the link here next season. Tickets were limited so you have to act fast.

This is the first I heard of this. I need this in my life.

Is there a mailing list for it? (please dont say facebook/twatter)

the best part of a live game is the crowd. When the team scores a goal, the horn sounds, the crowd explodes and you can feel it all in your bones.

We went to game 5 of round 1 vs Columbus. Went to OT. When Backy scored the OT winner the place went bananas.

RE: How bout them Caps? - JPolen01 - 06-08-2018

It's organized through the local alumni chapter, MetroDukes. Be aware they spam the hell out of your email with events non-stop. They also do Nationals/Wizards games as well.

Looks like the parade will be on Tuesday with the route traveling from 17th to 7th on Constitution ending with a celebration on the mall in front of the Capitol. Who's going?

I feel like RVA Dukes only ever spams me for a crabfest or whatever you call it. I definitely didn't sign sign up but get emails like once a week. Guess it was more our generation. I don't pay that much attention but I've only seen viewing parties for things and that crabfest but I don't remember anything cool or mention of included adult beverages. Maybe for the crabfest but I guess we don't have anything sports related down here.
