I might have to man up and finally order some soon. i was really wary of ONR at first because the thought of not having a traditional soapy sponge to clean with sounded like a recipe for scratches. its great stuff and the best part is that you can use it anytime for anything as long as you wipe it dry. i bought a bottle and diluted part of it as quick detailer and another part of it as clay lube. you have to work it over 2 cleanings to get really dirty cars but if you keep up with it i think its good stuff. would be reeeaaall handy in the winter. no tuning yet, Romraider hasn't released definitions for my ECU yet! i thought they had them out but they don't. the next version is due out the end of this month or beginning of june and that's when i'd like to get started. Re: Project RS - ScottyB - 06-25-2009 the old falkens put put a good fight but they are just about toast after 30k miles or so. if i had less camber i'm confident they could go 40k. overall i liked the tire alot, if not just for the rain performance alone. they got loud in the last 10k and they've developed a bit of a pull to one side as they wore. minor complaints though. i wanted a bit stickier tire with better road manners and after going back and forth over a couple "ultra high performance" summer tires, the RE-760's looked like they were getting very good reviews. Tire Rack is doing a nice rebate program on them so i picked up a set in stock size. i'll let you guys know how they do. Re: Project RS - ScottyB - 09-14-2009 some assbag jumped/stood on my hood last night so i'll be getting a check from allstate soon. i wanted to go with an aluminum WRX hood with a scoop delete, but i'm having second thoughts since that will bump me out of ST in autocross into SM where i'll recieve an even more brutal beatdown. plus its pretty much just a fun street car, it'll never be a racer. thankfully my deductible is low but generally speaking people can eat crap and die. Re: Project RS - JustinG - 09-14-2009 Or u could put it on and stay in ST by not telling anyone Re: Project RS - ScottyB - 09-14-2009 white97dsm Wrote:Or u could put it on and stay in ST by not telling anyone
Re: Project RS - JustinG - 09-14-2009 especially since you not like racing for points or anything, now if you were actually competing then id stick to the rules. also depends on how big of sticklers those guys are to the rules Re: Project RS - ScottyB - 09-14-2009 they're fairly strict amongst the front runners (which i'm not), its a hotly contested region. i'm just not sure a used, lighter hood is worth it on the street so I can be even more uncompetitive when i autocross....maybe it is. but, a stock hood will be new and look cleaner. hmmm. i told myself i'd be trying to sell my car in a year for an NB miata/MR spyder. now i'm finding more ways to f with it...argh i can never just leave stuff alone. Re: Project RS - Mike - 09-14-2009 just get the stock hood. Re: Project RS - JustinG - 09-14-2009 KARBAHN FIBAH!!!!! Re: Project RS - flintster55 - 09-15-2009 I have a world rally blue hood with some slight hail damage sitting my back yard if you're interested  Re: Project RS - Maengelito - 09-16-2009 flintster55 Wrote:I have a world rally blue hood with some slight hail damage sitting my back yard if you're interested  do you happen to have an STi scoop on it or just the stock WRX scoop? Re: Project RS - ScottyB - 09-16-2009 flintster55 Wrote:I have a world rally blue hood with some slight hail damage sitting my back yard if you're interested  i think you need to make something cool out of that thing, like a table or something. Re: Project RS - flintster55 - 09-16-2009 Sorry Maeng, I have a JDM STi scoop and they made me reuse that in my new hood Haha I know right, I've had it back there just in case I get motivated to make it into to something cool. It's not exactly the best shape for a table but I'm it could be something cool. Re: Project RS - ScottyB - 10-02-2009 '05 STi rear lateral links on the way from a local part out - it was a price i couldn't refuse. they're aluminum as opposed to my steel and have higher durometer bushings. the rear end is quite soft and you really feel it in transitions. the soft and heavy stockers are obviously in keeping with the stock car's intended use but i've wanted something better to tie the rear end up. the Opensource tuning community is finally on the last leg of development for the next release which will have the logger defintions for my car. i'm really looking forward to doing some very minor tuning/logging and learning about that aspect of the engine. Adam thanks again for being so patient with me hogging your cable. in other news, i was on the fence about the scoob for a while now. grass is always greener and what not. truth is, after alot of thinking, its really not the car that had me unsatisfied...its the environment. took it up to the mountains last weekend to do some apple picking with the wife and had a blast and really reconnected with the car, if that's possible. it was just a ton of fun. i've realized i just flat out hate driving in the city, and i don't think it would matter what car i'm in. i'm going to stick with the RS and keep on enjoying the modest upgrade path while putting extra money towards more seat time and other non-car projects. Re: Project RS - flintster55 - 10-05-2009 Haha it's probably a blessing in disguise for me because if i had the cable I'd have a 16g on my car now and thats probably not the smartest financial move for me right now. A buddy of mine sent me a text this morning saying the new release was out so your wait may finally be over. Re: Project RS - ScottyB - 10-05-2009 flintster55 Wrote:A buddy of mine sent me a text this morning saying the new release was out so your wait may finally be over. yep! i wanted to log the car last night but it was too rainy. i'll be trying it out tonight. Re: Project RS - ScottyB - 10-15-2009 after driving the car a few days on the new 87 tune its really an improvement. there's quite a bit more midrange now and some of the bogging on the low end is gone. it just feels more solid everywhere. i'll post the OL maps when i'm home. quite a difference between new and old. there's probably alot of power i'm leaving on the table - especially up high - but i'm very content for now as power wasn't my original goal with tuning (i use the word lightly, i don't have real tuning skill) the car anyway, its just nice to have more as a side effect. in addition to adding alot more fuel to the open loop map under 4k rpm i also cut down the delay that subaru engineers into their programming when the car switches from closed loop to open loop. its caused a hit in mileage around town but well worth if for the increased response and the engine seems alot happier. Re: Project RS - Mike - 10-15-2009 forget messing with your engine... what you really need is some aero: http://www.aerocivic.com/ - 114mpg and 140mph top speed... stock 102hp motor. Re: Project RS - flintster55 - 10-15-2009 Good to hear man. That's really cool you can smooth things out so much. Would there be any benefit of making a 93 tune to squeeze a few more hp out? Or is octane not that import in n/a motors? Re: Project RS - ScottyB - 10-15-2009 stock open loop t00n :vomit: ![]() my hackjob: ![]() obviously i'm leaving alot on the table especially at the highest rpm/load cells but again, i'm no real tuner. i also wasn't even going to attempt to take fuel OUT of the map without a wideband at least. Or is octane not that import in n/a motors? i think there's more power under the curve that can be found with 93 and some work on the timing tables, but probably not much more total power as the engine sits. late model N/A guys with mild bolt on's are making great gains with just a solid 87 tune. the SOHC heads actually flow extremely well and with some cams and compression with a 93 tune it could really rock out. i don't think i'll ever get to that point though! |
