The low pressure area can be acheived with the hood vent DJ mentioned so that's a possibility down the road. I'm going to try the ducting, just gotta remove the FMIC for better access to everything.

Also what fans are you running? If there the stock ones have you considered upgrading them for somthing that pulls more air?

That would be overheating at idle. Once you get up to 25mph, doesnt matter what fans you have. He is referring to pulling the fmic for cooling at speed.

Yea It seems that people think I'm overheating at all times. But the only time my car gets hot is when I turn the AC on, goes into around 220, that's when I turn off the AC Turn it off and it'll cool back down to normal around 190. Whether driving at 80mph or sitting still at a light.

Justin, I got one of them Mishimoto 144 deg thermostats if you want for the cheap. It won't work in my 6 bolt; 20$ NIB if you want it.

so just an update, cars tags are dead havent driven it in 3 months, but now that i have a little more time on my hands.
Removed the Viper alarm and EBC, and installed the MBC. EBC IS FOR SALE!!!! Pulled the viper because its locked in the garage 24/7 and still has the factory alarm system. Probably going on the Jeep so I can unlock it from more than 5ft away and have remote start.

Still need to sell the damn all seasons on swirlies, if anyone wants em make me a damn offer.
Need tires, wanna upgrade seats, and try and do some tuning.

Was bored today so got some work done, everything from the front seats back minus the rear speakers are gone, which I may remove and just utilize the door speakers considering that I rarely listen to the radio in this car anyway. Maybe someday ill be able to actually do what I want with this car.... :dunno:

I was bored today, and was browsing DSMtuners.com, and noticed a guy made an air box out of sheet metal to help keep heat down. So, I took my existing intake heat shield and added a top.

Top, added to basically create a box, with a piano hinge. Also threw some black paint on over the rivets.

Now to help keep down intake temps more, thoughts on those intake heat sleeves? Basically a heat shield sock you slide over your intake tube???
Anyways, that was how I kept myself busy today, also removed the cat and installed my test pipe.

looks pretty good man. is there a way to latch the top down? i just wonder if it will rattle around when you hit bumps where it might bang against the hood.
for temps, does the DSM community offer phenolic spacers between the intake tube and throttle body? i don't know how effective they are but i've heard of them. also plugging the coolant passage that goes through the TB might be worth a few degrees in the summer.

For anyone who thinks about doing this: this is fine if the car is a track only / fair weather car, but you can run into issues if you do this in the winter. Throttle bodies on SHOs will ice up pretty easily if you do this and its cold/damp. Not really worth the risk IMO :dunno: .

Adam, I ran mine without coolant. Even cars that are only fair weather, youll have an issue with cold-starts as that is where the ECU reads and adjusts the idle based on coolant temperature.
They have a phenolic spacer available between the manifold and the head where I would imagine there is a larger temp difference to be had between the head and an aluminum intake manifold that is stock on these cars. (Tends to transfer heat). Air also spends much more time in the manifold than the throttle body. I had it simply cause I replaced my manifold, dont think it did a damn thing (maybe made the runners 1/4 inch longer for more torque? :roll:

There is a self tapping screw keeping the box shut, and the coolant lines are not connected to the tb. I doubt ill see any gains worth the trouble of trying one of those spacers. I need to see how many points I have left to stay in C, before I do anymore big mods.....
