- Mike - 10-30-2007 So thoughts on this... front tow hook come with two bolts and the intention is that you drill your bumper support to accommodate one, while the other goes in one of the many holes already in the support. being lazy, i've only mounted the hook in the one factory hole. question - do you think this is enough to support being towed? i can't imagine that having two (right next to each other) can be drastically less likely to bend the support... so maybe the bolt is the weakest point? how does shearing (sp?) work? are two bolts right next to each other really twice as "strong?" it seems they'd both be up against the same stress. learn me, i've been out of school a while... - Evan - 10-30-2007 do you really want to find out when you are beached in a sand trap? im not going to pull out my protractor and physics books just because you are too lazy to drill a hole! - HAULN-SS - 10-30-2007 is it easier to tear a piece of paper in half, or a phone book? that's just sheets of paper next to each other. - D_Eclipse9916 - 10-31-2007 ...........................................................wow deersty, just wow.... I just had to comment - Mike - 10-31-2007 HAULN-SS Wrote:is it easier to tear a piece of paper in half, or a phone book? that's just sheets of paper next to each other. is it noticeably more difficult to tear two sheets of paper in half than one? - .RJ - 10-31-2007 Mike Wrote:question - do you think this is enough to support being towed? No - definitely not. Load distribution is good, the bumper support is not that strong. - Mike - 10-31-2007 k. there goes a 2 minute install turning in to a 30 minute one
- .RJ - 10-31-2007 Wouldnt want to get in the way of your video game time ![]() You will also find very quickly that the tow hooks double up as shin/knee attackers. 'Soft' hooks FTW. - Mike - 10-31-2007 i won't deny it. i enjoy mah video game time. pulling off a bumper cover and drilling a hole? not fun or glamorous. - Mike - 10-31-2007 Was bored, felt like flexing the new lens (50), spent 5 minutes across the street snapping some pics... - WRXtranceformed - 10-31-2007 Hatch looks clean man! - Dave - 11-01-2007 those wheels are hideous, in my opinion. - .RJ - 11-01-2007 That front tow hook is going to destroy your shins. - Evan - 11-01-2007 strange that benen didnt make that point 90 degrees down. No need for the hoop to stick out past the bumper. My hook sits in the radiator opening and doesnt stick out. Works great. (unfortunately its been tested a couple times :p ) - Andy - 11-01-2007 Dave Wrote:those wheels are hideous, in my opinion. Agreed. Maybe Mike has started street racing :dunno: - .RJ - 11-01-2007 Evan Wrote:strange that benen didnt make that point 90 degrees down Gotta make sure everyone can see it so you can floss your bling. - Andy - 11-01-2007 .RJ Wrote:Evan Wrote:strange that benen didnt make that point 90 degrees down My ricer neighbor with the hype-r has those in blue. Has he been to a track. no. Does he have reclinable sparcos. yes. Does he insist on backing in his car. Always. - ScottyB - 11-01-2007 Andy Wrote:Does he insist on backing in his car. Always. it makes me happy to know i'm keeping the MM Icy Hot Stunnas rep alive in atlanta. back it in for the win. - Mike - 11-01-2007 Re: tow hook, it's mounted to the only thing i can mount to. Re: wheels, to each his own. - WRXtranceformed - 11-01-2007 I like the wheels, they look a lot better in person
