$100 part, paint + labor = $630. It's the fucking size of a quarter. So I'm going to order a $30 one on eBay and f'ing spraybomb it or pay a painter $20 to do it. You can install the damned thing with your hands and five minutes.

Checkout one of the made-to-order automotive paint places online, Jake and I have bought stuff from "automotivetouchup.com" and had good luck. They'll send you a rattle can of your exactly color, and with a part that small you'd never notice it wasn't done professionally. I've used it to respray those little half-dollar sized pieces that go in the E36's side skirts.

Sherman Williams is very good about this stuff too. I think I paid like $16 for a can of Subaru World Rally Blue and it was a perfect match. Even got a can of clear coat for it. Best part is that they mix it right then and there, so no waiting.

Re: 2009 Audi A4 Avant - Mike - 01-26-2016

Thanks, will consider both options. Another option is that the loaner matches my car's color. Little game of swaperooni in the Audi Service Center parking lot? Wink

It seems some dude in Germany or Poland used to supply them pre-painted, but that was years ago. Bummer.

Re: 2009 Audi A4 Avant - JustinG - 01-26-2016

CX5 doesn't have memory seats. So go ahead and rule it out.

Right. It pretty much is. I think we're limited to German or a Lincoln? Tongue

I think the RDX has 2 setting memory seats.

Re: 2009 Audi A4 Avant - WRXtranceformed - 01-26-2016

Yeah our RDX resets seats and mirror positioning with the memory keys. The newer ones might do even more, I'm not sure. The MDX stores even more information like radio presets, cliimate control etc. like my Jag does.

Hah. Nice find. If he did individuals I'd be all over it. I still want to verify the failure with my own ears (you can listen for them to click when the ignition is turned on) because I don't trust dealership diagnosis for shit.

They do in Europe, ship a seat and install.

"Further upgrades are applied to all SE-L Lux and Sport models, with a memory function for the powered driver’s seat and a 6-way powered passenger seat as standard. Full leather trim comes in Black (as standard) and for 2014, Light Stone leather (as featured on the all-new Mazda3 and Mazda6), is a £200 option. "

who are you goldilocks? Anne is 4+ inches shorter and I dont even bother to move the seat back when I drive her car.
The only thing that MUST be moved is the rear view mirror, and the silly memory seats dont work on that.

Quote:She mention GLK today. I don't know squat about MB, but I do wish they had a C-wagon here.
and if it was here, it would be $50k just like the 328xi anyway.

Im pretty stoked about the cx6 coming later this year

Re: 2009 Audi A4 Avant - WRXtranceformed - 01-27-2016

I do feel Mike's pain. My wife is all of 5'1 with heels on and I am not kidding when I say that i can't fit my legs between the steering wheel and seat when she has been driving the car. Her seats adjust 3 ways and it would be a huge PITA to manually get my seating position and mirror settings back to perfect every time.

WE PAY MONEY SO WE DON'T HAVE TO CRANK SEAT ADJUSTMENT WHEELS LIKE PEASANTS

(I keed because I'm about to go from the most memory settings ever to a manually adjusting seatback and no memory seats :lolSmile

+2, with 3 pedals and 300hp, of course.

Re: 2009 Audi A4 Avant - HAULN-SS - 01-27-2016

manual adjust seats would solve a lot of your complaints about the time youre wasting adjusting seats....can literally get right in 5 seconds or less

But then I'd have to buy a car that sucks, right?

she has her own car, why is she even driving yours? Let alone often enough that you neeeeeed self adjusting seats.

seriously, Anne has not driven my car a single time ever. I dont give 2 shits if she did, but why would she need to?

Are you kidding? My wife not once has sat in my driver's seat nor will she ever unless life or death emergency. I'm talking about her car which we mostly take everywhere now (both have memory seats). If we drive somewhere together, she prefers that I drive but she also frequently takes the car out for errands herself.
