RE: Project: AWD Turbo Family Hauler (PART DEUX) - .RJ - 05-02-2019 I mean, I have some to spare, want them? RE: Project: AWD Turbo Family Hauler (PART DEUX) - rherold9 - 05-02-2019 (05-02-2019, 02:03 PM)Apoc Wrote: Yes, but it was a rhetorical question as well ![]() Project: AWD Turbo Family Hauler (PART DEUX) - JustinG - 05-06-2019 Wasted more money. Want to make more wooshy noises so I found an AFE intake on Bimmerpost. Should be here this week. Looks pretty factory. ![]() In preparation for the intake I also snagged this little AFE scoop off of Amazon as a "like new" warehouse deal. Probably a waste of money, but directing air into the airbox cant be a bad thing. It was never opened, just the box was a little crunched. Plus the Amazon reviews say throttle response is greatly increased......[emoji38] ![]() Remove kidney ![]() Remove the little grill over the opening. And pop in the scoop. ![]() ![]() Secures with a little plastic pop rivet/trim thingy. Replace grill. ![]() Replace kidney, scoop all the airs ![]() JB4 arrives tomorrow. RE: Project: AWD Turbo Family Hauler (PART DEUX) - ScottyB - 05-06-2019 that scoop is pretty cool. i don't know if it'll make much different on an engine that makes its own air pressure but on my subaru, adding a scoop under the leading edge of the hood increased the airflow at highway speeds when i was datalogging and tuning throttle trims. this scoop looks even more aggressive so i wouldn't be surprised if you get something out of it. RE: Project: AWD Turbo Family Hauler (PART DEUX) - .RJ - 05-06-2019 The reviews on the AFE intakes for the E90 (N52, at least) are universally garbage. I hope they did better with the N20. Project: AWD Turbo Family Hauler (PART DEUX) - JustinG - 05-06-2019 Apparently there are like 5 different versions for the n55, and early versions had bad maf sensor location. Haven't seen anything bad regarding this style for the n20, but we will see. RE: Project: AWD Turbo Family Hauler (PART DEUX) - .RJ - 05-07-2019 I have an N52. All the same sensor locations. Doesnt fit right and causes some nonsense with the sensor that throws a code.e Project: AWD Turbo Family Hauler (PART DEUX) - JustinG - 05-07-2019 Intake came in early. Making wooshy noises now. OEM air box ![]() What's in the box?!?!?!?!? ![]() ![]() 30 min later ![]() Not crazy loud, but noticeable turbo noises, more spool and bov. I can only imagine if I replaced the turbo inlet with a hard pipe vs the plastic/accordion oem inlet. Also got this today.... ![]() It's installed via 2 connectors, MAP and TMAP. I had to move it from where it is in this pic. The cowl cover wouldn't latch completely. Apparently the box is not 100% water proof, so I put it in a ziploc freezer bag, taped it up real good and tucked it next to the brake master on the the fender side. They sell waterproof cases for the circuit board, may look into one. ![]() Haven't loaded a map yet as I was waiting to be sure the firmware is up to date. It is running fine in bypass, so the JB4 is technically off, but allowing the sensor signals I plugged into to pass through and work normally. Confirming the firmware is up to date tomorrow, and will give Map 1 a try, 4psi over stock. RE: Project: AWD Turbo Family Hauler (PART DEUX) - .RJ - 05-08-2019 that shit is janky. RE: Project: AWD Turbo Family Hauler (PART DEUX) - JPolen01 - 05-08-2019 You spent how much money to stick that box in a plastic bag under the hood of your BMW? lol RE: Project: AWD Turbo Family Hauler (PART DEUX) - JustinG - 05-08-2019 (05-08-2019, 08:27 AM)JPolen01 Wrote: You spent how much money to stick that box in a plastic bag under the hood of your BMW? lolI bought it used, and most people just leave it as is. But I'm being a bit Anal. Gonna order the waterproof case for it, and clean it up a bit. I will not apologize.
