I like to start, and then totally just don't care about posting follow ups. Kind of bad with that :/ Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - *insertusernamehere* - 06-12-2014 Holy smokes i just googled One Lap O'Murica and that looks like one hell of a week! Do they also time you when you're traveling inbetween events? Or do you just have to arrive by a certain time? Most people don't think about going to facebook every day. Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - JPolen01 - 06-12-2014 Facebook would be good for small updates, but if he really wants to document the trip I think a blog would be needed. Anyone who wants to follow will check it and he could post links on Facebook to remind people. Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - Dave - 06-12-2014 Wordpress is the easy button. That's how I document all of my car stuff and we have one for our family that has been awesome. The interface is easy, and you can get as detailed as you want (and based on DJ's racing updates in the past, I think he appreciates having some real content in his posts). Facebook is good if you've got like 2 sentences but it automatically hides content that gets long and people don't go to FB to read long paragraphs of text. To do this right it needs to be a post on a blog. Besides, the only two-sentence FB post I want to see from DJ on his 1 lap is "Took 1st again; haters gonna hate. Off to the next venue." Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - D_Eclipse9916 - 09-08-2014 Navin...you still interested in OneLap? Jess is not sure of the budget (we started adding it up and it is PRICEY) Car is running pretty good. Around town it is perfect and actually easier to drive than a lot of cars because of the immense torque. It still breaks up pretty bad at random points when full throttle till I beat up on her really really hard. I am changing out the fuel pump since the original one has 164,000 miles and is made for 1/2 the horsepower. Plus heck, I have a spare one downstairs so its free.99. When it runs well...it runs WELL. I really think it is mostly an issue with the tune. The guy tuned it, and didn't even get RPMs right so I am not 100% sold on that. During this winter, I will be pulling the motor back out to take care of a small oil leak that leaves a couple drops a week, and throwing ported heads and the FAST Intake Manifold and TB on. Ill get it tuned locally and in person, and hopefully be somewhere around 450-480 to the wheels. Took it over to Cars and Coffee and someone grabbed a picture of the engine that still isn't cleaned up :/ Then he also got a picture of the car before I used Sonax on the wheels. So I have a real "before/after" of Sonax on the wheels... ![]() ![]() After a Sonax treatment...
Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - davej - 09-08-2014 looking great! can i buy it yet? Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - *insertusernamehere* - 09-08-2014 Good lord, are you not tired of pulling engines? Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - Beej - 09-09-2014 Man I've liked those wheels ever since I saw them on your race car. Car looks sharp. Did I miss it or is there not a video of it? How's it sound? Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - SlimKlim - 09-09-2014 Beej Wrote:How's it sound? At idle it sounds like the earth is tearing apart underneath you to reveal the bowels of hell. Around what I think is 2-3k RPMs under moderate throttle sounds like a swarm of mutant bees the size of elephants chasing you down the road, and at WOT it sounds like every AK-47 in Iraq being fired simultaneously over your head. Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - D_Eclipse9916 - 09-09-2014 *insertusernamehere* Wrote:Good lord, are you not tired of pulling engines? NevARRRR. To be honest, I like pulling engines to work on them more than just getting under a car. I have a lift on order and should be here in the next few weeks, so maybe I will change my mind once it is really easy to get under the car. Jess is interested in it becoming her daily driver for a little while till I build something for her. But again, we have been crazy busy lately and the time to get under the cars has been tight. I have also been watching SCCA and FS class is proving that the 11+ e92 M3s are being competitive, so that might be a route as well. So much is in the air this winter as the GTS2 race car is for sale, Chump Car is for sale, trailer is for sale, and decided on my racing future wether to buy another race car and trailer, go back to autox, or what. Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - D_Eclipse9916 - 09-09-2014 Sooo with the intention of getting more power this winter, and me being concerned that the original 164k mile m3 pump can't handle the 380-400rwhp I am trying to put down right now, I went ahead and ordered a turn-key solution. Most pumps are $80-120 for a decent quality one, then I would have to figure out how to mount it. For $165 RallyRoad includes the pump and a machined aluminum adapter along with any necessary pieces. I said why not, I won't have to worry about fuel for a bit, and will fit a bigger fuel pump later on if needed.
Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - navin - 09-09-2014 POS have an exhaust on it yet? Isn't OneLap more west coast tracks this year? womp. Let me know if you do C&C this weekend, I might try to wake up early and bring the Hype-R with a shiny for sale sign on that bitch. Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - D_Eclipse9916 - 09-09-2014 navin Wrote:POS have an exhaust on it yet? Isn't OneLap more west coast tracks this year? womp. Nope, with Nationals I haven't had a chance, and the balljoints in the rear was what was preventing the car from getting an alignment. I got it close enough that it hasn't been a problem driving around for months now. Funny thing is, I have had on 3 seperate occasions a cop behind me at stop lights and not once get pulled over old bmw sedan = cops could care less. Must think that blub blub blub is coming from the truck next to me  Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - Kaan - 09-10-2014 replace BMW badge with Honda badge and see how well that goes
