Enkies on a Y49... thanks for the boner... my coworkers hate you

- ScottyB - 11-05-2008

at first i was pissed, now its just funny.

leaving for work this morning, i'm my parking lot and stop to let this asian lady in an odyssey do an 11 point turn trying to get out of her spot (could have easily backed out and took off) and normally, when someone has the backup lights on, i make sure they see me and get by....i tend to be pretty aggressive in parking lots.

but today i felt charitable. so, i'm sitting in my car, waiting for this woman to figure out forward and reverse, joking the whole time what terrible drivers asian women are.

WHACK!

the brand new RX300 that i'm sitting DIRECTLY BEHIND backs right into me. i get out, the red mist already blinding me. she gets out. how could this happen? do you not look behind you when you back out? your mirrors? how in the hell do you f that up?!

i've just been hit, again, by a young asian woman, again, in my parking lot, again, while my car is parked, again, and the other car ran into me at under 5 mph....again. this time it's about 40 feet down the parking lot from the last time i was hit there.

i've now got a nice oblong basketball sized smear down my passenger side bumper corner. the best part was listening to her explain to me that it's just black dust, not my bare bumper plastic, that i'm seeing and that since her car doesn't have any scratches, it's no big deal and we should go on with our lives as friends. she finally tells me she's "new at this." ah! i had not gathered.

can. not. wait. to. leave. this. place.

RX300's are marketed to the dumbest people on the planet. I'm convinced of that. There's simply no other reasonable explanation.

Scotty, you have to see Rex driving in NOVA to understand his true hatred of the RX300s. He really does yell NEMISIS going down the road.

Good god, please no, ive "bought" some, ive got to pick them up. rpf1s?

- ScottyB - 11-23-2008

picked up a very used borla header yesterday from a friend who was going to trash it since he had a new header coming and didn't want to fix the leaks his had developed. since i'm a tremendous cheapass and he was offering it to me for free, i figured i'd snatch it up since i've always wanted one and i don't mind spending a little cash having someone weld up the cracks.

i should see a little power gain, better mpg, and now my car will sound more like this instead of how it sounds now.

- Feersty - 11-23-2008

Sure sounds better with it, that is for sure.

- WRXtranceformed - 11-23-2008

Yeah those headers will definitely completely change the sound of that car. Remember how my STi used to sound with those? haha

how can i forget that? haha that car was such a beast!

got some maintenance crap done yesterday...cold concrete suuuuucks.

i changed the rear diff fluid, and just as an FYI for any other impreza people, don't bother buying a square socket to fit the drain plugs. a 1/2 extension will fit and work fine.

i was having trouble breaking the bolts loose but an old exhaust pipe made a good breaker bar. another neat trick is to just use you jack (you should have your car on jack stands, right? Tongue ) to push the ratchet. 6 tons of pushing force is always nice!

1 bottle of fluid will work since the diff takes .8 litres. i tried to use a suction gun to put the fluid in...do NOT do this. suction guns are crap. mine wouldn't hold suction and just dribbled fluid all over my nice MM hoodie and the parking lot. just get 1/2" clear vinyl tubing and run it from the diff fill hole up above the exhaust and the up through the wheel well to outside (thankfully i had some on hand from my aquarium). make sure the tube never dips below the diff level so as to keep fluid going down. then just stand next to the car, cut the tip off of the fluid bottle nipple and squeeze the fluid in while holding the hose up high. think of it as giving your car a beer bong with diff fluid. if you have alot left in the tubing it shouldn't matter as you'll have nearly 1/4 bottle of waste fluid as "wiggle room".

my second round of Pennzoil Platinum 5W30 is going in to blackstone to see how far i can take my oil changes out. i ran it to 6600 miles this time, lets see how it did...

- Evan - 12-08-2008

Ive always used one of these for diff oil and trans oil

is that any particular brand or just "store brand"? mine is a metal unit from JEG's that looks like a caulking gun. it worked briefly the first time and now not at all.

the cheap metal ones are piles. i got one from advance... tried to use it, had it leak everywhere except for where it was supposed to go, returned it, guy couldn't understand why it didn't work ("i've sold hundreds of those and never had one come back"), got my monies back.

if travis reads this, it was the older guy who always worked in the back at your location. graying hair, looks like he's got a few screws loose. god, i hate that fucking moron.

no I dont remember the brand but mine looks exactly like that (the little claws on the tip to keep it in the filler hole are awesome) and generally there is only one variety at the store.

they have always 'just worked' and Ive only had to replace them when people borrow it and dont return!
and remember to shoot some brake cleaner through it every time you use it to keep the hose from hardening
