I'm watching today's WH press briefing right now and press sec. Spicer and the reporters are fighting again about crowd/viewership sizes. Wtf....where are the adults?

Ninja'd: his crowd size was actually substantial if anyone cares:

I'm sure his crowd size was just fine, but truly who gives a fuck. I'm more concerned about his temper tantrum about the whole thing, the man really is set off by just a fucking tweet.

Disappointed with the news of the federal hiring freeze as I have been in talks with my capstone advisors at NASA about a position come graduation.. time to start seriously looking elsewhere I suppose. Anyone know how long these things tend to last?

But in reality: No one knows. We are hoping it lasts. Jess wants to continue to work for Fed Government but will be going part-time. Normally Fed doesn't like to do that with her type of job but if they can't hire anybody they are kind of stuck with their hands behind their back.

Re: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - HAULN-SS - 01-24-2017

Look for a contractor doing NASA work - there are plenty of them. Unless you have some really specific reason for going fed, I don't really see the appeal these days like the old days with fixed retirement plans and stabiity. (For the record I do government contract work and have never been affected by any freeze, pay issues, or furloughed during a government shutdown)

I thought this was wildly interesting:

Good read and very clever for sure. Just sad that all of this clever analysis was used to the benefit of Sir Cheeto. I also just allowed the Cambridge website to access my FB profile and see how good a read it can get on me. Turns out the "likes" they mention are the pages you like (i.e. "Ford" or "Stranger Things") and not the items that you click "Like" on in your newsfeed, posted by friends. The site still got a decent read on me even though I have very few pages liked - the only thing it missed was my religious beliefs (said I was most likely to be a Christian... LOL). I would be curious to see how it interpreted profiles based on newsfeed likes.

In other recent news, all this immigration stuff is pretty fucked up, especially the part about green card holders not being allowed to return home from vacations.

I'm nervous about the Supreme Court justice appointee, too. That's got the potential to hurt us longer-term than a maybe-four-years president.

I was supposed to hear back from CGI Federal over a month ago. Not sure if it's related to that or if they just really hate me.

Meanwhile the Donnie fired the standing attorney general because she defended the Constitution and not his own decisions. This administration seems to only worsen day by day.

My professor and I are trying to stay lighthearted though.

SCOTUS will definitely be interesting. I'll be surprised if it isn't Gorsuch, who I am a pretty big fan of. He says Judges should apply the law as it is, and not "decide cases based on their own moral convictions..." which we can all agree is the courts job, n'es pas?

So we are 6 months in. Healthcare is DOA. Not much if any legislation has been passed. We have a new judge on the Supreme Court. A few hundred cabinet positions are still open, some being extremely important to defense/national security. The President still tweets nonsense daily and the Russia investigation(s) intensify daily. How is everybody feeling?

What do you mean? He's only, "signed more bills — and I’m talking about through the legislature — than any president, ever... for a while, Harry Truman had us. And now, I think, we have everybody.ā€

That's a reductionist perspective that fails to recognize the true implications to people that aren't you. Do a bit more research, then comment. Here's a start.
