Ha! No kidding. I'm about to do this to my E46. I was comparing it to what used to be on my Ford 2.3 and was like WTF!?

That is more complicated than my Audi. Good job, BMW.

Re: The Blue Phoenix - E46 325i - Senor_Taylor - 04-06-2016

Have y'all seen where it is located? UNDER the intake manifold. UNDER IT. Not behind it, or beside it. Not on the other side of the head, but UNDER THE INTAKE.

Re: The Blue Phoenix - E46 325i - *insertusernamehere* - 04-06-2016

Yeah you didn't know? You're gonna have to pull the intake manifold off..... i've done it like 5 times now.... easy

Re: The Blue Phoenix - E46 325i - Senor_Taylor - 04-06-2016

No, I've known, which is why I haven't done it yet. If I can find a shop to do it under $400, I will this summer. I value my time a lot more than saving $300 and breaking a lot of things under there. There's no way my back can take being bent over the engine for 5-10 hours.

Re: The Blue Phoenix - E46 325i - SlimKlim - 04-07-2016

Oh for fucks sake.

1.) You don't have to remove the manifold.

2.) Jack the front of the car up so you aren't stooped over, I've had chronic back problems for 10 years and somehow I manage.

3.) You shouldn't value your time more than $300, you're gonna need $300 to fix something else on this heap.

Honestly if that seems like the worst job ever to you just sell the car. It's a whole hell of a lot better than the RTAB job you just did, and probably far from the worst thing left to do on it.

Re: The Blue Phoenix - E46 325i - RawrImAMonster - 04-07-2016

Yeah that looks really easy. I'll do it for $300 haha

Re: The Blue Phoenix - E46 325i - Jake - 04-07-2016

I'll do it for $250.

Re: The Blue Phoenix - E46 325i - rherold9 - 04-07-2016

Holy shit. Seriously? My PCV is right on the back of the engine at the top with a small coupler doing VTA with a filter. Does BMW just try to make things complicated?

I'll do it for $249.

Please don't do that.

Re: The Blue Phoenix - E46 325i - Kaan - 04-07-2016

i can do it for about $20... $18 in gas for the Tundra... $2 in gas to pour on your engine... i'll throw the lighter in for free.

Re: The Blue Phoenix - E46 325i - Senor_Taylor - 04-07-2016

I like this. Lowest bidder. GO! I watched that entire 3 part video last night, so I know what i'm up against. I've done the reading. Something will go wrong, something always goes wrong.

Regardless I won't have the money until the summer. The MM after party (That no alums except Jake and the usuals came to) has me tapped at the moment. Hopefully after finals week I can start banging out some more hours at work and see where I'm at. As for letting someone else do it, I'll probably do it myself, but I really don't care if y'all hate on me whenever I consider paying someone. If I can pull some extra hours at work to make the money so I can pay someone to deal with the bolts they drop, the hoses they break, and the connectors they can't get off, I don't mind. Keep in mind,I haven't paid anyone to do anything I could do myself yet.

I impressive myself with my ability to turn something y'all would make one post about into a 3 page discussion.

Re: The Blue Phoenix - E46 325i - rherold9 - 04-07-2016

All the Speed3 bros catch can it instead of back into the intake. Then again they can a lot more blowby then my slow shitbox. Is it not good to stop it from going back into the intake?

Unless the fundamentals of engine dynamics change #bczhonda. Its not.

Having vacuum on a crankcase is important.
