I will say that it's a lot easier to hit max light level now and get good drops than it used to. You can hit top level without really doing any endgame stuff. I would imagine they will carry that over to D2...the biggest time sink now is if you are after certain drops or rare quests or certain rolls of some weapons. That will probably never change. I don't mind that. I don't mind a grind for cool collectibles. But being locked out of endgame content due to RNG was goddam retarded and until that gets addressed rex is out. Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - rherold9 - 03-10-2017 So anyone on Xbone playing Destiny? Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - Apoc - 03-10-2017 nope Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - CaptainHenreh - 03-30-2017 mediocre. Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - G.Irish - 03-30-2017 Destiny 2, September 8th. Trailers are more light-hearted and goofy, but hopefully they'll put out a much more polished product that builds on what they did in Taken King and Rise of Iron. Lee, you gonna preorder the collector's edition? From past experience I knew the CE sells out mega fast, it was gone within an hour off the GS website. I ran down to the local Gamestop as soon as Bungie announced and was the first one there to order. Got beta access code and this epic Cayde-6 figurine for preorder from Gamestop  ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() They tried to sell me hard on preordering the full size McFarlane Gjallarhorn, but wifey would probably not be pleased if I brought home a big expensive lifesize rocket launcher...I've got enough swag in my man cave  : ![]() CE was expensive as crap but here is what you get:
Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - JustinG - 04-27-2017 Anyone played around with a Switch, or considering purchasing one? The concept is really cool IMO but curious everyone elses thoughts. I kinda want one just for Mario Kart. Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - WRXtranceformed - 04-27-2017 I heard it underwhelmed. IMO Nintendo also dropped the ball when they announced they would quit selling the Classics. Not really sure what they are thinking, they had people lining up to buy them at the Nintendo stores and they couldn't due to low supply. I guess that's why Nintendo has fallen into the shadows of Sony and MS Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - JPolen01 - 04-27-2017 If I recall correctly there were less than 10 games planned for it by the end of 2017. Pass. Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - G.Irish - 04-27-2017 I think Nintendo stopped selling the NES classic because a Super NES classic is coming this year. I must admit I might buy that one. As for Nintendo Switch, I'm curious about it but probably won't spring for one until a new Mario drops at the least. Even then, with Destiny 2 coming I don't know how much Nintendo I'd play anyway. Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - Apoc - 04-27-2017 The classic was always meant to be a limited run. Yes, they could have decided to keep selling them, but it wasn't like they woke up one morning and said, "hey, let's stop selling this thing." The one thing I've heard about the Switch is that it's a really great Zelda machine... and not much else. I mean that's like saying we're going to stop selling our CX-5 because we had a new CX-9 come out. I guess I don't see the business reasoning behind doing a "limited run" of an electronic device that there is demand for and that you could sell a ton of. It's not like you have master craftsmen in a remote mountain village building these things out of ground up baby dragon bones. I mean, nintendo makes some dumbass decisions but they know how to make money. The NES Classic was a pretty niche product. A handful of games, and I mean...60 frickin' doll-hairs? For a fixed library of 30 games? 60 bucks would buy you a pretty passable tablet that you can run literally any game you want on. I know I know "But nostalgia" yes, nostalgia. Which is exactly why it was a limited run at 60 bucks a pop. I still have my NES, with a bunch of games. Easily half the games available on the little mini classic. And it hasn't been hooked up since :dunno: Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - WRXtranceformed - 04-27-2017 CaptainHenreh Wrote:True but retro gaming is huge now especially if that product is from one of the original companies that produced those games. There were literally lines at Nintendo stores where they handed out tickets, and if you got a ticket you were guaranteed to buy just one Classic. Nintendo was worried about speculators so they apparently registered the credit card you used and your name and info and registered it so that you couldn't buy more than one. One of the guys we play Destiny with was in those lines outside of the Nintendo store and didn't get a ticket. It smells like a missed opportunity to me, but again it seems to be a track record with Nintendo with the Wii U failing and Switch underwhelming.WRXtranceformed Wrote:I mean that's like saying we're going to stop selling our CX-5 because we had a new CX-9 come out. Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - Apoc - 04-27-2017 I think the demand was largely created by artificial scarcity. If anyone could just walk into a store and pick it up at any time, it wouldn't have gotten nearly the hype. People see other people going out of their way to get it and get caught up the mentality. Artificial scarcity can actually maximize profit over creating as many units are the market demands... especially if you're selling a niche product with a relative short period of marketability. Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - JPolen01 - 04-27-2017 I don't know a single person that bought a classic or that was upset they couldn't get one. I don't even think I saw a single post about it from any of my friends on facebook.I don't think the demand is what you think it is. Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - G.Irish - 04-27-2017 WRXtranceformed Wrote:It's not like you have master craftsmen in a remote mountain village building these things out of ground up baby dragon bones. LMAO  I don't know what Nintendo's issue is to be honest. On one hand I can see maybe deliberately undershooting demand by just a bit so you're not caught with a bunch of inventory collecting dust on shelves. But Nintendo undershoots demand by so much that it is very difficult to buy their consoles through any channel. When you sell something for $60 that people are reselling for 5 times that amount (or more), and that goes on through the whole run of the product, you've waayyyyyyy under delivered on supply. And it's not just the Nintendo Classic. Look at the 3DS. Not one online retailer has them in stock. The 3DS has been on the market for years but its been really difficult to get one for some time. Maybe Nintendo is trying to get people to buy a Switch or they're planning on releasing a new mobile console but it is stupidly difficult to get any model of 3DS right now. It's nice to have hype and people waiting in line to buy your product. But overdoing it like Nintendo is means they're missing out on a LOT of money. Which hey, maybe they're fine with as long as they're profitable. Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - Apoc - 04-27-2017 That assumes their goal is to maximize profit. Knowing a few people who have worked at Nintendo, I get the impression that is absolutely not the case. They seem content creating niche products... kinda like private car companies that have small run production. Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - JustinG - 04-27-2017 I'll give ya 6 months of limited inventory. After that I better be able to walk into any retail store and walk out with the product, or nah, I'm good. |
