That's XLED, which is a made up marketing term for Vizio's LED TVs. ULED and XLED are similar, just different brands. OLED is a different technology altogether.

https://www.digitaltrends.com/home-theater/qled-vs-oled-tv/

Read a bit and see if the difference matters to you.

I like my Vizio now that it's got all the kinks worked out. Costco has it for $1200 now. Will probably go on sale for a little cheaper at some point. It's a P65 smart TV with built I'm Chromecast which actually works pretty nice. The UI for the built in apps like Netflix (which is usually the same throughout) and Amazon is pretty good. I actually like it better than the fire TV themselves. It's 4k HDR and has gotten the best screen ratings (other than oled) on cnet for like the last 2 years. For the price, I'd probably buy again even with the issues I had. The p series gets you 4 HDMI ports that can handle 4k UHD and one more that is the older protocol which can't do HDR (or 4k? Can't remember). The lower series only have one HDMI that can handle HDR and the rest are the older protocol. And they have less LEDs in them I think too but they also get really good reviews for picture (quality and problems is mixed too). They say the m series is good bang for the buck though. Has all the other features like Chromecast built in. You can control several things with Google home and even more with Alexa now which is actually pretty nice.

I'm sure Samsung's are better but I'm happy with my Vizio. Like Justin has said before. Don't get the 55" Vizio's. They use a different screen that aren't as good. I believe that goes for both the m and p series.

Are the OLED down under $1k yet? I thought they were still hovering around $1500 for the smaller sizes and above $2 for a 65"

Fuck Samsung TVs. Look up their privacy policy / ad policy. If you like your TV spying on you and delivering advertising to you in the main menu, buy a Samsung.

Never again.

i bought this earlier this year from BestBuy with a coupon that the Honey browser plug-in found (making the TV under $600). The TV was a secondary one, but it's easily better than our primary since that was bought in 2009. Simple, easy to use, and depending on the soundbar used the Sony remote can be utilized. The built-in apps are as quick/responsive as working with a third-party box/dongle, but it's fast enough for what we want (Netflix/YouTube/PrimeTV - apps that are all built-in). Basic Smart TV that looks good from a lot of angles and the sound output is pretty clear and can get loud; obviously not as full/bass-filled, but that's what a real sound system is for or a soundbar.1 setup.

Privacy is dead. Get over it, or dont use the internet or a smartphone or any media service.

There are occasional deals within his budget, but they don't pop up routinely.

https://slickdeals.net/deals/oled/

I'm sure there will be some during the holiday season, if he can wait that long.

Patience is a virtue.....that I actually do have.  I don't mind waiting 6-8 months.  Ill probably just pick up the Yamaha sound bar and use my current 62" with a kindle fire stick behind it until then.

Still happy with my Sony, but it was $1500 for a 65.

RE: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thread! - Ken - 04-02-2018

Either:

A: Wait for solid OLED deal with price you're good with

Or B: Sony X900e Solid reviews & decently priced

Hmm if you keep clicking through the value beaten for price link, you end up on the LG b7 oled anyways. Interesting. The vizio used to score higher on that site I think too.

Would rather spend less (remember 80/20 rule here).  Good reliability, on year 8 with my "black friday deal" TV with zero issues, just would like more things integrated.

Wants:
55-65 inch, going in a 2 story living room (see sound bar requirement)
Flat (not curved)
Bluetooth/wifi/have no idea? way for a decent sound bar that can fill a fairly large room and act as the "sound system" for the main level.  Getting rid of our receiver as it's more pain than its worth.  I want to use the TV remote to use volume on the sound bar (I know there are systems that can do this as I set up my moms).  Need suggestions here on soundbars too.  Not looking for a "wired" system, already going to have that in the movie room.
"Smart" AKA I want my Netflix/Amazon on it without having to plug in anything
Budget: $1k max for TV, prefer to spend less, $500 max for sound bar

Not 1K, but kinda close at 1.3K 55in LG OLED

So after moving into the new house we realized that our old Samsung 46” tv is way too small for our living room. So we upgraded to a Samsung 65” LED 4K UHD Smart TV with DVR. It won’t be in till Thursday, but were pretty excited.

So the tv came in today and I picked it up and set it up before Samantha got home from work. This thing is a beast and we absolutely need a bigger tv stand to handle this thing. Setup was easy and we are still figuring out the features, etc. If were going to use it for much web browsing, we may invest in a cheap keyboard for it. We don’t really have a laptop we use, just my work iPad, so it may be worth the $20 to get the keyboard. TV navigates easily between our cable box, mirroring my phone and the internet products it comes with. I’d like to pair my Alexa with it, but haven’t done it yet. We watched some 4K YouTube videos and they are awesome on this tv, I really look forward to finding some 4K movies to watch. Overall we are very satisfied with our purchase so far!

I'm moving in September and trying to simplify a lot of what I own. Ergo, soundbar instead of massive Logitech 5.1 surround system. I don't watch many movies and figure a soundbar will give me 85-90% of the sound for 20% of the size.

I looked at the Vizio sound bars but this Yamaha had really good reviews. I am going to try it and see how it goes - can either add a subwoofer if I really miss the low end, or return it for something else. Amazon sent me a coupon for changing my address, and I had Amazon cash back on my Discover card, so it ended up about $120 shipped.

Nice! The Yamaha are supposed to be nice.

FWIW, if that doesn't work out, i had this Polk Signa S1 for a couple weeks until they released the Sonos beam and i sold it to help offset cost. It sounded really nice and the separate wireless sub was a nice touch.

I actually bought it as Amazon Warehouse for $90 - it was really a steal at the time.
