This is a goddamn near perfect representation of how I feel whenever I try to play BF1 multiplayer.

That's what you get dirty camper!

I've managed to play battlefield 1 more than any other battlefield game that I've bought, but it's also an extremely frustrating game at times. It's just one of those games where every time you die it feels like a cheap death. Between spawning right in front of enemies (I've been knifed in <.5 seconds after spawning) to feeling like you always have enemies behind you no matter where you are, I find myself getting more annoyed with this game than any other in recent years. I will say I've been enjoying it a lot more since I've found a gun I really like. The Selbstlader m1916 in the marksman variant with the zoom set to 2.5x has been perfect for me.

I haven't made up my mind on whether I hate it or like it yet.

I'm pretty terrible at FPS, but I'm particularly bad at BF1. The large map and old timey gun combination is not friendly for those of us who are terrible at aiming.

BF1 is one of those games where you use cheap guns/tactics to win or you just get extremely frustrated.

Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - SlimKlim - 11-17-2016

I actually am more inclined to play it vs other online FPS games, i like the simplicity of the old timey guns, but yeah. Those types of games just aren't what I usually like to play, and at this point I could quit my job and start playing 24/7 and never catch up to that 12 year old that already has 10,000 hours logged in it. I miss the days when a good, engaging single player campaign was the first goal of a game and multiplayer came second.

I played it a good bit the week that came out and managed to go from dying every 10 seconds to maybe once a minute or so. Although one time I did find a good spot with that Tank Rifle thing and take out half a squad of enemies that had no idea where I was firing from.

I've learned the best way to play when you sort of suck is to either pick the medic or support role and really try to play to your role. You can just focus on following your squad around and keep them stocked up on ammo or health, get behind cover and just try to spot enemies if you can't kill them so that they show up on the map, and if you're playing support you get points for effectively providing cover fire.

I have way more fun in TF2 multiplayer than BF1. The campaigns on each are okay, but I get bored after 30 minutes. What I really want more of is coop campaign so I can play with friends and don't get wrecked by kids 1/3 my age.

Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - SlimKlim - 11-17-2016

Bethesda seriously needs to add Co Op to its games. Imagine how much more fun it'd be to explore Skyrim/The Wastelands with a friend.

Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - Apoc - 11-17-2016

Neither of those do anything for me either. As far as I'm concerned, my preferred gaming genre died when RTS went out of style. Now I just muddle through FPS and curse at the TV a lot.

I never got into those, you're old. :-p

Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - RawrImAMonster - 11-18-2016

I put literally thousands of hours into Counter-Strike and CS:S when I was in high school/early college so FPS's are my thing. BF1 is the only game I've played where I can be at the top of the scoreboard for a round and still be frustrated when it's over.

It was between Overwatch and this when I was deciding what game to buy. Kind of wishing I went with Overwatch.

I'm pretty sure ESO will be free to play for a bit on Xbox One soon.

Overwatch has very little depth and gets boring in a week. I don't know anyone who is still playing it because every game is EXACTLY the same and that gets old fast.

Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - WRXtranceformed - 11-27-2016

I have been in the market for a new PS4 controller since both of mine have seen a ton of use and are starting to get worn out / buttons are starting to not register. I was going to hold out for the new licensed pro controllers (Razer Raiju or Nacon Revolution) but figured I would give the improved DualShocks now being sold with PS slim systems a chance. Here is my Amazon review:

This new version of the DualShock controller is definitely worth replacing your old ones with. I do a lot of gaming (4-8 hour sessions, 5 days a week) and my old version controllers were starting to get pretty worn out. I was looking to hold out for the new E-games endorsed controllers that are dropping later this year but when I heard this was available and read the specs I thought it would be worth trying them when they dropped to $40 sale price. What was appealing to me was the longer battery life and ability to "hardwire" the controller with a microUSB for basically 1:1 input (no input lag)

A few notes about this controller:

1. Hardwiring a PS4 is EXCELLENT and long overdue. If you are a casual gamer or play games that do not require a lot of precision movement, you may not notice a difference. If you play a lot of FPS or fighters at a high level, you will notice a difference with this controller. Playing Destiny last night I found that the trigger pull to my gun firing was instantaneous. Turning was quicker and more precise, I even noticed being able to move through menus quicker. My old controllers must have been more worn out than I thought.
If you are going to hardwire, a few important things to note:
- Make sure you go into your "Device" settings in your PS4, then under Controllers make sure to select it to run off of USB instead of Bluetooth. This only works for this new gen Dualshock controller, not the old ones.
- Make sure you have a microUSB cable that is long enough for your gaming / seating setup. I generally like to buy things that are bigger than necessary so I pulled the trigger on a two pack of 10' long cables for like $8. I am glad that I did, because the risk you run when hard wiring is the cord getting pulled and you going dark during a game. I did not have this happen while playing but when I put the controller down for a quick break it disconnected. Note for if this happens: Make sure you plug the controller back in and hold down the PS button to reconnect it. So the theme here is if you're going to hardwire make sure you get a cord that has plenty of slack for your seating setup.

2. The buttons and joysticks have a nice, improved matte feel to them. The triggers feel crisper and have a slightly heavier trigger pull (again, probably more noticeable due to my old ones being worn out). The joystick material feels a lot more durable and for some reason they seem raised slightly higher than the old controllers. They probably aren't (it could be that the material is new and hasn't worn off yet) but that definitely made in game movement easier.

3. The small light bar shining through the touch pad on top is a nice touch but frankly I don't play many games where the light bar is that important to to me.

I can't comment on how much longer the battery life is as I've only played it in hardwired mode but that would be a nice added benefit for those times I do go wireless (which I may never do now). If you're on the fence about this and you do a lot of gaming, it is definitely worth the investment!

Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - SlimKlim - 11-28-2016

So the No Man's Sky developers released a free content update after months and months of complete radio silence, well after everyone had given up all hope and written the game off as a cash-grabbing vaporware scheme. They claim this is only the first of many free content updates too.

I got so pissed off with it I deleted the game a while ago, so I had to reinstall it last night after I heard about the patch. It is still very much a slow-burner game, and I didn't have enough time to wander around last night and find a base on a planet so I could check out the new base building elements and other new features, so I'll have to wait before I can pass judgement.

At the very least though, it seems like a step in the right direction. Good on the developers for not just taking the money and running, like everyone thought they did. Even if this update is everything it says it is, they have a LOT of work ahead of them to turn this into the game it should've been at launch. BUT, If they stick to it and make it happen it'll be the biggest comeback story in the history of gaming. I want to believe.

Anyone still play Horizon 3 at all?

Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - RawrImAMonster - 12-01-2016

I'm just going to get it when it goes on sale fairly cheap. I never end up playing racing games on multi player.

Right now, my girlfriend and I have been playing through skyrim. It's her first time playing it and shes fairly addicted.
