I could make up some shit to get people all riled up, and post it on the internet and I bet some people would believe me, but it sure doesnt mean its happening.
All Im saying, is that if you're going to make claims like that, you need to back it up. Last I checked, we live in VA and are talking about VA.

Last I checked it was a discussion about speeding fines in VA, not cyclists.
To spell it out, a story about extreme speeding fines in Finalnd is no more OT than spandex clad cyclists in this thread.

MD's sales tax is 6% and their tax burden is 11%. Apparently Virginia pays a 3% car sales tax (I actually thought we paid more than that) and our tax burden is 10.2%.

The dealer collects tax for the state you're registering with because they title and tag the vehicle for you in your home state. I bought my S4 in Delaware and thought I was gonna get it tax free but was salty when they collected the 3%.

^same for me when I bought my legacy. It was tagged and registered when I drove it off the lot - I'm assuming they could've done the same evne if it was an out of state dealer
What happens if you buy a car off the internet direct from chevy or whoever - could you buy it tax free like you can everything else?

Yup - thats how it worked when we bought our WRX in Maryland.

If you don't pay sales tax you're "required" to pay a 3% usage fee to the DMV when you register it.
FYI - You're supposed to do the same thing with everything you buy off the internet on your taxes each year. :wink:
