the chipped off piece was in the box, but i don't understand what that has to do with anything?

Re: Project 99 GSX AKA "MN3Y PIT" - HAULN-SS - 07-31-2009

oh...i thought they were trying to make a bogus UPS claim

Re: Project 99 GSX AKA "MN3Y PIT" - JustinG - 07-31-2009

nope, I just don't have the time to deal with that and wait on a new pulley to get here.

Re: Project 99 GSX AKA "MN3Y PIT" - D_Eclipse9916 - 07-31-2009

Fucking shipping companies suck. Just got a message from a guy I shipped my brakes to.

Two of the rotors literally got 2 chunks chipped (these are brand new THICK rotors) and an ss line was basically ripped in half. Mind you these were coveredin bubble wrap with newspaper and DOUBLE boxed. WTF are they doing? Just dropping the shits literally out of the truck? It is ridiculous to have something well-packed and break something CAST IRON.

Re: Project 99 GSX AKA "MN3Y PIT" - JustinG - 07-31-2009

hope you insured it.

Re: Project 99 GSX AKA "MN3Y PIT" - D_Eclipse9916 - 07-31-2009

Fuck yeah, but didnt insure it that much, if the package was lost I would have been really fucked, I only insured it for a grand.

Re: Project 99 GSX AKA "MN3Y PIT" - JustinG - 07-31-2009

well that should easily cover the rotors and the lines

Re: Project 99 GSX AKA "MN3Y PIT" - JustinG - 12-11-2009

WINTER MODE ON, 16in talon swirlies and Kumho ASXs, crazy how much quieter these tires are compared to just starting to show cord Azenis. Gonna work a few track weekend and pick up some 245s for summer use. Otherwise, all is good, still drive it everyday. starting to notice more valve tick, may at some point change to 3g lifters to get rid of the tick once and for all. Hopefully in the spring it will no longer be my DD and it'll be time to get a lil crazier.

Re: Project 99 GSX AKA "MN3Y PIT" - JustinG - 04-13-2010

Decisions decisions.....

Option 1: Need tires, Azenis prob have 1-2 more auto-xs in them. So 245/40/17, Star Specs.

Option 2: DSMlink, currently have SAFC, which is ok, but severly limits my power and tuning potential. Car pulls timing like crazy with SAFC. With Link, the car will be a whole new beast.

I'm doing both, but decision is which to do first. Link first I can sell tne SAFC and put that towards a Tire fund. Tires first and I may actually turn some descent times at my next Auto-X.

Vote....and an explanation would be nice too.

Hoosers + MoTec

FTFY. Don't vote...he mows like a cop.

Sorry, out of my system. I vote Link first. Make powah, sell AFC, burn through Azenis, burn through 70 series tires on swirlies, ?, profit.

Re: Project 99 GSX AKA "MN3Y PIT" - Dave - 04-13-2010

Link and then tires for exactly the reason you gave. You can sell the AFC to put towards the tires.

Am I the only one that clicks on DSM threads waiting for the day it says "my motor asplode"? Smile

Re: Project 99 GSX AKA "MN3Y PIT" - D_Eclipse9916 - 04-13-2010

link, stock turbo, stock smic = STX and then good suspension and tires.

Being competitive in a class is a whole lot more fun then getting pwned in SM.

Aahhhh....I remember the days of a stock tire-sized, 3700+lb car on 20yr old suspension in the company of prepped STi's

Re: Project 99 GSX AKA "MN3Y PIT" - xvxax - 04-14-2010

STX is going to make your car really boring without major suspension work. Gotta stick to "stock" boost too.

My vote is for DSM Link first.

Re: Project 99 GSX AKA "MN3Y PIT" - D_Eclipse9916 - 04-14-2010

STX in his dsm would be somewhat competitive the way it sits(if stock turbo and smic is put on). All he needs is maybe shocks (cause tokicos just blow), and a good alignment with tires and he would do very well in STX. Good spring rates with the top hats I had made for my car and it would be a very good competitor. double-wishbone, center and rear LSDs, low center of gravity...just needs setup right. A failure of 99% of DSMs I have ever seen, and probably will see. Heck most dsm guys cant even get an alignment done right and run on 225 all seasons and think thats wide. Im the douche trying to push Justin to get the right suspension and show watsup. If I had extra time and money id love to take a stock dsm and prep it for stx and pwn.

Plus dsmlink is allowable, has no lift to shift, stutterbox, antilag, and you are able to tweak a/f and timing to pull as much out of the "stock boost" as you can. This is why M3s should be getting pwned (and are) in STU. A little bit of timing, a/r work, launch control and no lift to shift helps immensely boosted cars, and helps to bring down times because a lot of timing down low really wakes up a car. If there was a "dsmlink" for the m3 I would have bought it already, way easier and more useful than hondata, has almost all of the features of AEM (except maybe less resolution which is getitng better) with all of the daily driveability of a stock gsx.
