he likes his mom, he doesn't want to do anything that might affect their relationship.

if my parents asked me to sell my bike or the civic, i would.

- Ginger - 10-20-2006

My parents have asked me to... but I'm rather attached to it.

But definitely not the S2000. Nice.

- Dragon - 10-20-2006

I'm sorry, but I'm an adult and my parents should respect my decisions. If they asked me to sell my bike I'd tell them as politely as possible that it wasn't going to happen. It's a two way streak, I do my best to respect their wishes, but they also have to understand that occasionally something I am passionate about is going to go against their wishes.

Where's it stop, if they ask you to quit your job are you going to? If they ask you to move home are you going to? If they ask you to marry this super hot rich chick who loves it IDB are you going to . . . . no wait that one doesn't fit in with my point.

Anyway you get the idea, we're adults (chronologically at least) and our parents need to understand we're living our own lives at this point.

- Maengelito - 10-20-2006

for the record, my mom would probably go apeshit if she knew i had a motorcycle. that wont stop me from getting one, but i would be concerned if she knew i had one whenever i do switch over

- Ginger - 10-20-2006

If I, god forbid, ever reproduced, I think a motorcycle is the last place I'd want to see my kids (well, I probably wouldn't want them in RJ's room, either)...

+1 x eleventy thousand

I didn't buy one while they were supporting me because I respected them. It's out of respect for me that they wouldn't even think about asking me to sell it now that I'm on my own.

That's 'cause you don't use either.

dissaproving girlfriends are much harder to deal with than dissaproving parents. Then again Im not a mommy's boy and talk to my parents maybe once a month, and Im 100% sure they wouldnt think of attempting to tell me to do something.

My girlfriend wouldn't think of telling me to do/not do something like that.

*edit* Just so I can beat everybody to the "maybe that's why you don't have one" line.

I'm not what's worse, being pussy whipped or a momma's boy.

Exactly. It's like I told RJ whenever he'd bitch about something his mom had him do or asked him to do when he was living at home. You do your best to do whatever your parents ask of you while they support you to make things easier on both you and them. Once you're out from under that blanket though you are your own person and they should respect the decisions you make just like you respected theirs when you lived with them.

As for disapproving girlfriends, I'm sorry if she doesn't like something that I'm passionate about she can hit the road.

My mother is an OCD lunatic. There's a difference.

dont mis interpret, if I wanted a bike I would have one. But its still a PITA to deal with when you see/talk to her every day.
There is also a difference if you already were into bikes when you met her.
Anne also doesnt like my racing for the same reasons but she knows better than to try to tell me to stop.

- Apoc - 10-20-2006

Well damn her.

I didn't own a bike until 6 years after I started dating the wife but it was always a foregone conclusion.

I told her I was going to start tracking a bike and she objected to that. We'll see.

- Mike - 10-20-2006

if a girl told me to sell something? fuck her, she'd be kicked to the curb.

the reason i'd do what my parents asked is they raised me, allowed me to have what i have today, and i'm thankful for that.

But, what if RJ told you to order some fucking springs from Eibach?
