Mike Wrote:hrmmm so i'm doing some little tallies in my head...

500 for headwork
200 for hondata
150 for intake manifold
450 for exhaust
350 for header (i was thinking jdm 4-1, but i have a dc sports i suppose i could use)
350 for cams
100 for tune
--------------
2100 for 35hp and little room for improvement

4000 for jdm b18c5 w/ lsd
-1000 for sale of my motor
--------------
3000 for 60hp and stock reliability

hrm, maybe i ought to rethink this swap thing.

I think you'll see a little more than 35hp, but you're right...4 grand for a B18C5 + HLSD, minus what you can sell the LS motor for seems like a pretty good deal. I'm guessing there's a reason it's popular, you know?

- Mike - 06-26-2007

nope, they're still right around 4k. back when you were looking i'm pretty sure they were 5k.

- Mike - 06-26-2007

i guess my issue with the swap is they money is one lump sum... that's a tough one...

haha, if you're cool with settling on that, then good for you!

what do those K motors go for these days?

- CaptainHenreh - 06-26-2007

Mike, no matter what I think you're dead on about having an LSD. Even with (maybe especially with) FWD an LSD makes an enormous difference in a corner, IMHO.

Clearly.

A new head from honda is ~$1200, and thats bare... no valves, guides, cams or seals.

Yup, that's about what one of mine cost.

Not on the LS motor. Even in the carousel at summit, you get a little inside wheelspin with a torsen, its really no different than with an open diff. Its probably worth a few tenths a lap at best.

Undecided Sentra SE-R makes 145hp, and really benefits from a LSD. Doesn't the LS make like, 130?

- Mike - 06-26-2007

142

The SE-R also has Mac Struts, no camber and a pretty poor camber curve.

*yawn* Whatever. LSD=Good.

CaptainHenreh Wrote:*yawn* Whatever. LSD=Good.

You cant poo-poo poor suspension design. The honda setup works pretty damn well, and with a fairly low HP track car the LSD just isnt that big of a deal. There are much "better" diffs out there than the OEM Torsen, too, but there are plenty of cars that hold track records with that diff installed.

So, yes, LSD = Good, but in mikey's case LSD = put it in whenever he puts in another transmission if he feels like it.

Passenger seat and harness installed. Weighed everything and I'm only saving 5lbs by installing it all. Oh well, that wasn't the point anyway.

Also to do today: tighten all bolts on harnesses and seats, tighten rearview mirror, lower front by quarter of an inch and check all bolts up front.

Tonight or at the track: Flush brake fluid

I can probably give you a hand with the brakes on friday if I get there early enough. I'm leaving around 12:30 from work and trying a different route which should take about 2 hrs. I also have some work I may do on my car once I get there. See you then!

- Mike - 08-23-2007

doesn't the track open at 530 though?

i said screw lowering the front... it looks fine and my camber kit definitely doesn't hit at this height so why bother?

all bolts on seats/harnesses tight.

to do: tighten rearview, install brake ducts (f'ing weather), flush brakes, pack.

- Mike - 08-23-2007

side note: does anyone know if there is a fix for pad knockback? i'm forced to tap the brakes before ten to get them back where they should be... it's getting old.
