+1

I stopped having tons of fun with cars like 10 years ago. I still enjoy them, but I don't want to blow all my spending money on car parts.

Yup.

Between your Miata and this, I was often envious of your patience and drive for perfecting and executing the vision. I can also see how that can be overwhelming and a distraction to other things you want to do and accomplish.

The fact "you're" is misspelled makes it

RE: Project FD RX-7 - Goodspeed - 10-15-2019

Thanks for all the thoughts guys, it means a lot.  Similar to my keeping news of this car limited to this forum, so I did as well with the announcement of the sale (outside the FS posts on a RX7 FB group and the RX7 forum).  I just don't like to advertise a lot either way so I thought it was kind of overboard to share all those personal details in here, but I felt like I owed you guys some explanation - and it was pretty cathartic to write.

I know I made it seem like cars are or were a problem; they're inanimate objects, and it was my fealty to them was getting to be a problem at this point in my life.  Once I get readjusted & settled in other parts of my life, I'll be (more healthfully) back on the hunt for the next car.  I said I was interested in electric cars, and I am for a daily - but for fun it'll always be something burning some dino juice.  The dream one day would have to be a '05/'06 Ford GT, if I'm really lucky.  Maybe a Supra, maybe another FD.  Miatas are fun too.  See, it'll always be there...

oh , and for the love of god, avoid selling a car on FB:

I am glad to hear you are doing what makes you happy, reguardless of whether that is car related or not. Keep doing that.

“Own stuff. Don’t let stuff own you.”

this x100

I'm a bit sad to see it go, but it's only from the perspective of an outsider. i'm glad you are learning more about yourself and not afraid to make the decision that seemingly would have been a tough decision years ago. i'm happy for you and i'm looking forward to your future adventures! I really enjoyed the pictures from the parks you visited.

Shit like this is the main reason I'm going to fix the Ralliart and RallyX it into the ground. Don't even wanna deal with the headache of people not understanding what the hell they're buying. Yeah it's cool you found one $4,000 cheaper at a dealer. By all means, take that $10,000 gamble that the previous owner took care of that transmission like it was their baby.

RE: Project FD RX-7 - .RJ - 10-16-2019

Selling a car is not that difficult, unless you make it, just like everything in life.

RE: Project FD RX-7 - Apoc - 10-16-2019

I think I've sold every car and motorcycle I've ever owned (that wasn't a trade in) on Craigslist. I realized the trick was just deleting emails from people who were idiots.

RE: Project FD RX-7 - Sijray21 - 10-16-2019

facebook marketplace is full of idiots though; it's the new Craigslist.

I've had luck selling on CL before (2010 and before) and i sold the GTI using forums within a week.

RE: Project FD RX-7 - Beej - 10-17-2019

I haven't much to add on top of what the other folks said, just wanted to give you a friendly internet back slap.  Priorities change, and good on ya for not irrationally sticking to "but this is what I'm supposed to like."

Also, you write very well.

RE: Project FD RX-7 - Evan - 01-15-2020

Sorry to see it go but good on you for bringing clarity to your life and having the courage to change course.
Sometimes I miss the unflinching focus and drive of my 20s, but in hindsight it came at expense of other things in my life.

I just wish I could have been the one to buy it from you!
