We are driving the goddamn car tonight. It will happen.

That's the attitude you need to have!

Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - Jake - 05-13-2014

It's like... transmission in, bleed some fluids, install the driver's side headlight/turn signal, put front wheels on. Pretty sure that'll get 'er moving.

Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - D_Eclipse9916 - 05-13-2014

More to it than that but sure! Bellhousing, slave cylinder lines, bleed clutch, driveshaft, exhaust, intake manifold, injectors, throttle body/maf/intake/o2 sensors

Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - Jake - 05-13-2014

Well if I didn't have to wait for the third Metro train thanks to overcrowding, I'd be there by now. Argh.

Transmission is in! We got kind of a late start, but it went mostly smoothly. Now it is just mostly ancillary stuff. Pull out of garage V2.0 hopefully tomorrow.

Buttoning up the last of the items. Still to do but can wait till after a fun test drive tonight:
1. cat-back exhaust
2. Electric radiator fan
3. Pull off labels on all electrical connections

Still to do to get it on the road for said test drive:
1. Torque down rear driveshaft bolts
2. Heat shield
3. Mid-pipe exhaust with 02 sensors
4. Bleed Coolant

Got done last night:
1. Bled clutch
2. Install Trans brace
3. Install short shifter
4. Install driveshaft
5. Raised engine back up and torqued down subframe
6. Installed intake manifold/injectors/fuel rail/TB/intake/MAF
7. Installed drive belt
8. Filled with water/coolant
9. Check torque on exhaust bolts

So learn me something here. What's your plan for emissions? I'm assuming you have done some research, or "have a guy."

I'm going to have to do something on the SS. Either antique tags, or weld in cats and hook the smog pump back up..which I might do anyway, but in the mean time, I dont "have a guy." Always wondered what people with more modern swaps do.

There are a multitude of ways, but since the probability of selling this car at some point is high; I welded in proper cats. That said, I had the emissions tuned out, and I also garage the car outside of fairfax county. With modern cars, they hook up to OBD2 and if it is done properly it clears.

Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - HAULN-SS - 05-15-2014

Well I thought they were required to also do a visual inspection. Wouldn't anyone be able to fake out obd2 if they never opened the hood with just a little software hack? Are they comparing against the bmw baseline, or the ls1 baseline?

If you would like to talk details we can talk in person.

^ Good idea. Carry on.

Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - Senor_Taylor - 05-15-2014

I see progress on Facebook, but not here!

Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - D_Eclipse9916 - 05-16-2014

So many of you probably saw this on facebook, but she runs!! Pulled her out of the garage and just ran her around the block. Sound is glorious. It was raining the entire time though and my concern for shaking down a car in pouring rain was overriding.

But..here she is in all her shakedown glory, videos to come as soon as we get a nice day:

It would be trouble to let you drive that thing without me in the passenger seat. You would get tickets galore
